I purchased a harness that was pre-wired for a s13 sr20det into a s13 chassis. I looked over the wiring and noticed something weird. A SAFC is also wired into the engine harness. Below is a crappy photo i drew up of how the wiring looked before and after i fixed it. I just wanted to make sure I fixed it correctly.

Whats strange is that I got to ride in the car that this harness came out of. So I know that it worked. But I can't understand how it worked considering the ignition wire was cut. I looked up the black/white stripe wire in an ecu pinout but there was no description listed for it.

doesn't seem right at all
I can't find the website I used to install mine but a ecu pinout is your friend. There is only one wire from the safc that is connected to one wier on the harness for power... i dunno why that other wire is cut/soldered in there

the only wire that is actually supposed to be cut in half is the maf wire, for it has an in and out for the safc, the rest should just be tapped

I was mainly wondering why the Ignition wire was cut when i got the harness and how the car ran with it cut. It seemed kinda strange how the harness was wired when i first got it.

Can anyone else provide some feedback?

oh.....

it depends where that black/white stripe wire is. typically it's 12v ignition power but it can also be the ecu's back up 12volt supply via the ecu relay. i don't remember all the sr ecu pins off the top of my head but the power for the safc should be like the second pin over all the way to the right at the top. i will say that i've never wired in an safc2 power source onto a nissan's black/red stripe wire meaning that's not what apexi intended. go to www.apexi.com and double check your wiring compared to how they tell you to wire it, then get back to me. gl
