View Full Version : RB25 swap into a S13 Shell. HELP HELP!!!

Ok gang,

I need help bad. I just picked up a RB25DE motor and tranny from a local shop. Everything is in decent shape. I know i need to replace a few parts that are broken. But no biggie. I tried looking thru threads trying to find a detail list of parts needed for the swap into my 1990 S13. But there are so many people out there saying that you need this part and that part. Im getting real confused. So im looking for someone ( just one person) who can help me with aquiring parts for my swap so I can get this bad boy in and running. Anyone who might be able to assist me with a list of parts needed would be a great help.

Just PM me back or post on this thread, Im just really confused at this point and need someone to lay it all down for me. If you are a vendor of these swap parts, then i will be more than happy to buy them off of you. Just list what i need and prices. I will paypal money. I am looking to do this project a.s.a.p.

I am on vacation from work so now is the best time.

Oh and some of the parts i currently know i need are as follows

Ignitor chip ( mine is broken, It is located on top of the motor by the valve covers)

Oil dip stick and dip stick tube. Mine is all bent.

Engine Fan ( mine is all chewed up)

Wiring Harness and ECU. My harness is cut. I guess i can splice but would prefer not too. And i didnt get an ECU.

I will look and see if i need anything else. But thats it for now.

Help a fellow Zilvian out please.:w00t:

oh and before i forget. I hope its cool of me to post this thread in this forum. I know that i am looking for parts and it should be in the WTB section but I am also looking for tech Help as far as what parts are needed. So please correct me if I was wrong for posting this thread in this section. I apologize in advance if it is in the wrong area.

You'll need an ECU and uncut harness. Call and complain.

yes get a harness and ECU first, go back to whoever sold u the motor and get an uncut harness and ECU.

Good luck with the swap and sourcing more parts. I would def call place you got it from and get the harness and ecu without that your stuck and cant do anything

I think super street magazine did a write-up on an rb26 swap into an s13. In the article they detailed both the parts needed for rb26 and rb25 swaps. Search their website they should even have a link to the company that did the swap.

i'm running apexi power fc for my rb25 so i have a spare "TJ" ecu. you said rb25de, there is such a thing so i can't assume it's a typo, but mine is a series 1 rb25det out of an r33 skyline......

i have a spare harness also but it is cut as well. i could fix your harness, but in all honesty since (no offense plz) you don't really know what you're doing, in your case i would recommend you just buy a harness that's already wired for an s13. #1 that would take care of your harness, #2 that would take care of your wiring questions. all you would have to do is plug it in once your motor's in there and be done with it. wiring is my specialty and i don't mind undertaking your wiring, however IF your wiring harness is fubar and then you'd have to buy one anyways so please take my advice. you can call tacoma nissan in texas. they can order parts for jdm engines, or if your motor's a deT i have a spare oil dipstick and dipstick tube you could buy along with my ecu. anyways gl man

what series engine do you have series 1 series 2 or neo i hve stock computer for all let me know ill hook you up with a good price?

there is such thing as a RB25DE but i really hope he didn;t settle for an N./A RB so if it is a non turbo ure ecu will not work (diferent timing map and injector set up) however if he got a RB25DET it wil definetly work, how messed up is the harness you got? i can probably repair it depending on how great the damage is.

wow guys, thanks to all for the great input. Luckily i was given a 30day warranty with the motor. and i had to take it back anyways. I hooked up a battery to it and ran a compression test. It had compression leak real bad. To be honest, it had 2 dead cylinders. So i will just go and find a RB25DET. It seems like that is a whole lot easier to install and more people have available parts for it. Thanks again to all who responded.
