SR swap heater hose

As some of you may know, I own a S14 with a SR engine swap. The engine is a redtop SR. When I go to the shop to do the swap, I went over woth the owner about the heater and the A/C because it is going to be my DD. He said he would take care of it since there is not much trouble. But the problems came. This guy told me he cannot connect the heater hose...

I have no idea about what I need to get now. I never thought that this is a problem with these kind of swap. I really want to take it to a shop and let people fix it for me but I just do not have enough money to do it. I just want somebody to tell me now about what I need andhow should I fix this problem.

So you did the same swap I did? Any quick tips like if the kit has everything I need or am I missing something?

Is that going to work with the S14 chassis?

I see two kits, one from Enjuku Racing, and one from Heavy Throttle. They look different and they cost 10USD apart. Which one will I better be off with? I will take some pic later as it is late night right now. But I can see from where the cable which control the open/close the heater down, the pipings/hoses are missing.

All you need is a few heater hoses from a local auto parts store, i dont have any pics but ill try to explain. Near the firewall behind the intake manifold you have 2 pipes for the heater core.

One goes behind the head and has a smaller line T off from itself and go to the turbo, this it top line for your heater core. You need to buy a U hose, to turn the hose around and go back towards the passenger side. Then you just need to find the proper hose that can connect to the U and reach the top line for the heater core.

The bottom line theres not much to explain, just find the proper hose (probably a short Z shape). If you really can't figure out i can take some pics later on.

Search my posts for complete info. USDM heater core is 5/8". JDM heater hose fittings are 3/4".

Brief summary of fixes in order of preference.

1. Cut off the fittings on the block and weld on 5/8" fittings. Use flexible 5/8" hoses and connect.

2. Use a series of adapters to reduce 3/4" hoses to 5/8". This requires experimenting.

3. Plastic weld the heater core fittings to accept 3/4" hoses. This is not ideal because it's hard to do without removing the heater core.


I do not recommend the Heavy Throttle kit. See in my post. It's overpriced, and doesn't fit at all. You can put together the parts yourself.


If your shop does not know how to hook up heater hoses, RUN AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK!!! It's fundamental with every SR swap.
