Now, Tricky, yeah, the RC51 is a 999cc V-Twin. It's also Honda's current race bike in both the AMA and WSB series'. There's a lot of differences, the CBR's are lighter bikes and more powerful, but the RC51 is a great platform to build on, and much more rare. I have said it before, I'm not a big wheelie guy, they just aren't my thing and the fact that this bike was produced for the sole purpose of being a race bike (they have to sell so many to the public, at least 500), it's made to keep the front end planted.

It's not a straight line bike; despite the 10.7 second 1/4 mile, 2.8 second 0-60 and 172mph top speed, it will get eaten alive by most of the litre inline 4's. It weighs more than any of the top litre bikes (GSX-R 1000, CBR954RR, R1), it's underpowered in comparison, parts are more expensive, and it gets fairly bad gas mileage. That's a lot going against it most would say, but you have to do your homework to understand what is truly great about the bike. It's true colors shine in the turns (which is where all of the fun is at, anyone can go in a straight line). The RC51 is a very confidence inspiring bike, in the corners it begs you to go faster, and you know that coming hard out of a corner, your rear end will stay planted instead of sliding all over the place.

Now, revalve the forks and give the bike a 15/41 gearing change and what do you have? You have a bike that nothing will touch in the twisties.

Why is it so great? It's great because of what it has the potential to be. It has all the potential in the world to become one of the most classic sport bikes of all time. But enough raving about the bike. There are entirely too many things that are different to really begin to list them (yes, that was a very short list above). Let me just say, I am VERY happy with my decision! <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>

**Edit** Tnord, the RC has the best stock brakes of any sport bike out there, period (that includes, Ducati 998R Brembos)! <img src="#/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'>
