a few days ago my engine gave up. i tried cranking but no compression. pulled the valve cover and noticed the cams arent spinning with the engine but the top chain is ok so im assuming i broke the lower timing chain, so here my question

is the ka24de an interferance motor? meaning if the chain breaks do i have valve/head damage?

i would just like to know if its worth the risk of replacing the chain or if my head is effed for sure.

thanks
chris

More than likely you trashed the head, the KA is an interference engine.

Just take it to a machine shop and get it checked out. Worst case scenario is what R240NA stated.

90% of the time that ANY timing chain or belt on ANY engine breaks there is head damage. Almost for sure you bent your valves, the head itself though should be useable.
