Just received our bill for October and our bandwidth numbers are through the roof. We used 415GB of bandwidth and were hit with a good size bandwidth overage charge.

If you can, buy some stickers to help pay the invoice.

No, I'm pretty sure that's not it. We have had a spike in new members, so it could be alot of people browsing and reading the forums.

^^ Deleting threads would reduce database size, but only requests for pages result in data transfer that counts towards bandwidth.

You could have the largest database known to man and incur no bandwidth charges if no one browses the site. Kinda how my site is right now :keke:

I have a recommendation that we create a sticky somewhere that teaches people how to optimize their signature pictures and make it where they cannot be larger than say ~30kb. just looking through this thread there were several that were larger than they needed to be for a signature picture. i optimized a few but a little goes a long way imo.


Each pic was optimized w/ quality in mind.

Total before: 481kb, Total After: 96kb

I know its not the largest amount, but when scaled over a large number of users it adds up immensely.



Monitering signature picture sizes won't help because those pictures are hosted on other servers, not on Zilvia.

* I'm not advertising for these people, I just have a server there, and haven't had a problem with them. These people used to have dedicated servers with unlimited bandwidth (but like at a 10mbit cap) can't seem to find those on the site tho.
