View Full Version : Ignition Fuse Keeps Blowing?

I was mid-drift the other night, when my car, dual cam s13, lost power, shut off, and my headlights flashed, then came back on. My headlights still work, along with my power seatbelts. It keeps blowing the ignition fuse before the car can start, it will turn over for a few seconds then blow it. Is there anything else this can be besides a short somewhere?

is your car really low? you think the driver side tire could've rubbed the harness on the top of the driver's side fender well? might be good to just take a quick look and we'll go from there.

My tire rubbing is a possibility, I got tein tie rods, and some posi camber in the front, I will follow all the wires back today. Thanks for the help.

np, hope you find the problem before you have to trace down the whole circuit that that particular fuse is on and dig through the harness until you find the short. i'm pretty sure with a thorough investigation you'll find the obvious problem.

Thanks for the help everybody. It turned out the tire rubbed the harness in a few places and shorted it out. If it wasn't for you guys it would have taken me way longer than the 20 minutes it took.

You should re-route that harness either along the top of the pinch weld on the upper frame or through the engine bay. Along the frame is easier and requires you to remove your fender and to remove the insulation to reduce the size of the harness (just tape it up REALLY good) and zip tie it above the pinch weld and put the fender back. Through the engine bay is MUCH more difficult, but I think it is a better idea because there is no chance at all of the harness ever getting chewed up by the tire or road debris. You must completely dissassemble both underhood fuse/relay boxes, carefully remove the clips that hold the harness from the chasis, feed the whole harness first out through the hole that it passes through in front of the driver's strut tower, then back in through the little triangular hole behind the driver's strut tower, then you have to re-assemble both fuseboxes and re-attach the harness to the chasis. Either way you decide to go you need to do SOMETHING!!!!
