View Full Version : Where's the adjustment on AGX???
Sorry. It may sound stupid. But, I just want to get a quick help from the members here.
My previous owner has installed a set of KYB AGX on my 91 240sx. The part number is 733007 (FL) & 733006 (FR). Supposingly, they are adjustable. But, how do I make adjustment on these shocks? I don't see the knobs on the struct's body itself. And, I don't see an adjustment knob on top either. I'd expect these set of shocks ain't the old school type that I need to twist/turn the body. Am I wrong?

fronts are adjusted on the top with a flathead screwdriver. there should be a knob on the inside of the lower strut body in the rear.

Fronts are top of shock mounts, rear are either on the base facing the inside of the car, or facing your wheel. You can install them either way supposidly... when i had mine, they faced inward
To clear the confusion, the shock is red and has the part number "733006" & "733007". They are AGX part numbers. I'd expect the knob on the top of the structs actually. However, I don't see the knob as TINMAN posted. There is a thick black rubber cover in between the chassis and the struct.
If you guys look at TINMAN's pic ( as if that were my car), mine has a rubber mount/ cover the big chassis hole. If that's the case, I need to cut or remove the rubber mount?

rofl. take off the cover. it comes off with a pull. then you'll see exactly what he posted. use a flathead screwdriver to adjust.

Again, MAKE SURE YOU PRESS DOWN AS YOU TURN THE SCREWDRIVER WHEN YOU ADJUST THE FRONTS.

Yup those caps just pop off with ease. Then adjust to hearts desire.
As for the rears there are some knobs probably facing inwards so jack it
up and good luck.
Thanks guy. I am going to try poping it out tonite. BTW, I know the rear has the knob at the bottom. I was expecting the same thing for the front.
Quick question! I have a feeling that the last owner didn't press down while turning. Is there a way that I can ensure the setting is corresponding to the number?

turn it down to 1 then bounce the corner of the car. turn it up to 4 and do it again. you should be able to feel the difference.
