so i'm watching kcal news at 10 and they're doing a segment on chp training camp (new recruit boot camp) and interspersed with clips of cadets running and drilling etc, they had video of a chp camaro drifting. like visibly and without question drifting. looked like it might've been at htm. but maybe not. i just thought it was kinda weird that they would use this footage, since drifting is a no-no. any1 else see it? their full segment is supposed to be on the news tomorrow morning on the 10am news. if any1 gets a chance to watch it then lemme know if they show more.

I applied for the academy. it is standard practice that you are taught that form of car control. also the instructors do a 4-car demo just as a way of showing the skill of what some chp officers actually have. 6-months of barracks and boot camp type training. you learn a few things.

^^ I remember that thing doing a tandem with a little miata, it was so awesome, big beasty v8 camaro chasing a small little noisy miata. I cant imagine trying to drift a huge ass car like that. For you guys with the experience, is it harder trying to swing a boat like that???

i used to drift with a camaro and from what i can say, my v6 needed a lot more power and at least a welded diff. it was a stock car. i'd say this car is a lot harder to get sideways than my stock s14. but it all depends on the driver. D1 pro driver katsuhiro ueo couldnt even drift my car when he first got in. he gave up trying after a while and asked me to show him. lol.

i'm well aware that this has been part of chp training for ages, my only point was to comment on how i thought it was strange that they would put in footage of this in a promo on a newscast for their boot camp. like they're trying to entice people to join chp for the opportunity to go drifting on the job.
