Searched around, just want some confirming thoughts.
Start up cold, go for a drive, the motor sounds like it's making a slight rod knocking sound around 2500 rpm, but not lower or higher. Few minutes later when the car is up to temp, it goes away.
Anyone?
Is it loud rod knock or more like ticking? Try this run some thicker oil... maybe Valvoline vr1, maybe some Motul, or even Rotella.... try some of the thicker weight oil.. 20-50w would be good...

Right now running mobil one 10w30 or 5w30 cant remember with a shitload of lucal oil addicitve... i should change it soon though.
ya, with rod knock your burning the hell out of the oil... just imagine every rotation its shaving off a little bit from the bearing, then your engine is going past 2,500 rpms.... its shaving off that much more.... maybe pull of your lower oil pan and check if there are any shavings in the oil...

I had light rod knock on a ka, it lasted a year and then after a pretty extensive burnout at 7k it became really bad.
It may last a while, it may not, but the more you drive it the more the damaged bearing is wearing. I would either a) fix as soon as possible or b) save up to fix it as soon as possible. Replacing bearings is much cheaper than a new crank, or new rods, or a new block...

I'm going to check for shavings when I change the oil.

Sweet. I have no intentions of putting any money into this ka unless I need to. The sad part is it had 165-160-160-165 compression, the only problem being worn out valve guides / stem seals so it burned a bit of oil at startup. I do however, top up my oil all the time, so it's not like it's being starved.

Go with a heavier weight oil and avoid the lucas treatment...I dropped some Lucas in right before the last drift event and the knocking got louder.
Then just went with a heavier weight and it quieted down.

That's funny because I think my valvetrain got noisier after I put the lucas in...
Huh.

probably excessive wear. because when your pistons wear down and you start the car cold, it may sound like a rod is knocking because the pistons are slapping the side of the cylinder wall. but when it warms up the pistons expand and seal better causing the noise to stop.(correct me if i'm wrong) thicker oil will probably help.

is this a single cam ka?
then you need a valve adjustment
done.

No steve dual cams of fury.
Just drove it today, and it was a bit warmer out.
Didn't seem to be doing it.
