i like the engineering that went into it.. i very much respect and admire that. i had to rewind at first watch and say "did vents just change into gauges"
but.... ah man, there's always a BUT with my opinions....
i really dont see the need for something like this. IMO, gauges are something that should be static and in plain sight, all the time. i know some brands can be expensive, but theres no reason they should be hidden. plus, i wouldnt want to be driving around the canyons and have these fake vents just sitting there exposed. it would be cool if they disappeared and recessed, but they dont.
the top section that pops up is OK, although a bit too square for my taste. again, the work that went into this job is more impressive than anything else.
but from a practicality standpoint, i'll have to pass. its too optimus prime for me.

i do see what you are saying, but i think in the beautiful United States of California, they would be perfect for those who DD our track cars.. as soon as cops see gauges the first thing they say is.. "ARE YOU A RACER, POP YOUR HOOD PLEASE" then get some weeping fucked up story bout how a kid crashed his civic and killed somone

oh is that right, eh? well, in my 10+ years of owning cars with gauges, i've never ONCE had a cop pull me over and ask me to pop my hood.
actually, even when my car was stripped and had no fucking interior, let alone a dash, did i even get questioned about my motor. call me lucky. front license plate, sure... ive had billions of tickets. exhaust? well, not lots of tickets.. but a couple (thrown out in court tho)
again.... to ME, for a daily driver.. i'de be much happier having heating/ventillation/air - than gauges. thats why the din areas made so much sense, its a great place for gauges. with digital music nowadays, you dont even need a stereo. just a music player with a harddrive and some amps, done.

Until now. Now that it's been posted online and everyone knows about it it'll be gone next week.
I agree with Mike, gauges shouldn't be an afterthought to go hide somewhere. If cops are pulling you over, it's not for some gauges on the dash, it's the fact that you're driving around like an ass with a loud ass shitcan exhaust. I'm sure some cops try to be a hardass and bust people, but I honestly have never seen anyone pulled over who didn't deserve it. Obey the laws, act responsible, and drive something that doesn't look like Mad Max's next project and you're not a target. And if they are pulling you over, you can thank the other kids like you who do drive like retards on public roads.

most of the newschool 240sx community = less than 25
with that said, you start to think differently after you've been around long enough, and dealt with enough bullshit. i deal with customers everyday, and you start to laugh at some of the stories and characters around.
its not just about the 240 community, but other car clubs as well. russ is right, if you do a good job and keep it clean, chances are you wont get harassed by the majority.

I agree with everyone that it is indeed nice work, but having the vents just chilling there when the gauges are visible is a downfall, I think. It should have been designed like a motorized single DIN DVD player.
I guess over here in Michigan, I have the luxury of not having to worry about cops...or having my gauges stolen. I still take precautionary steps when driving by cops though. I make sure they have no reason to pull me over. Windows rolled down (20% tint), off the throttle, and of course speed limit, seat belt, etc. Then park garage style.

If the gauge cluster's rotated around, to conceal the gauges it would be a lot cleaner and cooler, but for the most part that's an awesome start.

driving/caring about a 240sx at the age of 29 = priceless.
The top part is too much in view, it takes like the whole vision from the front dash, but the vent swap is pretty nifty.

IDK I like the top view to be honest, like to have A/C with no gaps or mods for s13/14 cars (aka not many s15 people here of course).
anyways, the mod looks hot to me when you have that top s15 like navigation spot turn into gauges along with the pasanger side airbag section turn into gauges of lesser importance
anyways thats is some nice work still

I think it's the "look at me, I'm gay" factor. Same reason people install stupid things like lambo doors.
I think that's a pretty neat setup. That's actually something I was planning on doing except instead of safc on the top of the dash i would do gauges. Maybe some people like the look of stealthy/stockish interior. I think it's wicked! :bigok:

i had my s13 since i was 18, many years of getting pulled over with that heap of shit.
regardless, if you're young.. you're gonna get pulled because you do stupid shit when you're younger. as you get older, you tend to get into these situations less often (usually due to other circumstances) and, know how to deal with them better (legally).
