View Full Version : What brand to go with? HKS, Blitz, Greddy, etc.

As I begin to slowly accumulate parts for my s14, I begin to think that it would be "neat" to stay with one brand for as many parts as possible.
Currently I have an SR20 w/Blitz BOV and HKS intake.

Question is, which company out there has everything I will need, with good quality, and reasonable prices?

I plan on getting: turbo, FMIC, radiator, coilovers, wheels, exhaust, timer, gauges, seats, etc.

HKS.

Be a high-class balla.

I don't think it's necessarily the best route though.

I don't think it's about staying with one brand because it's "neat"

You should put products on your vehicle that you feel are worth the quality and in that particular type of product that company stands out as a leader for quality and worksmanship.

Not stick with one brand because it's fucking "neat"

Who mentioned anything about wheels?

I hope you didn't misinterpret my "high-class balla" post to be referring to wheels.

Read the OP's original post.

It's right there.

He's asking about wheels too.

It all depends on the part in my opinion. I think Greddys the only one who makes the intake manifolds, unless you wanna start paying over $1k for one with the upper tier JDM companies. So you cant really just pick 1 company and only use their product cuz some companies dont make EVERY part there is for the SR.

^^The OP said "I plan on getting: turbo, FMIC, radiator, coilovers, wheels, exhaust, timer, gauges, seats, etc."

but, when i said HKS, i meant the engine parts and electronic components, such as turbos, fmics, pulleys, camshafts, f-con v-pro, etc.

Again, HKS dont make radiators, seats, pulleys, intake manifold, injectors, fuel pumps, etc etc etc....

Ah who cares.

It's like me asking I want my wardrobe to all be one company.

Which one should it be Prada, Gucci, D&G, or Burberry.

Doesn't make sense becuase each one is good at one thing while the other may not compare although it may come close.

I did see a special edition HKS bride made seat on egay before.

Most likely fake but nonetheless I saw it.

since when did HKS stop making fuel injectors and cam pulleys?....but, just like you said one company does not make every parts for the whole car....

Exactly, as long as they are quality parts, you woill be fine, get the best out of each category, in its own top brand, as long as you can afford it!

Do JUN, then buy their intake manifold, cause I always wanted to see real pictures of it. Then slap yourself for spending $3,500 on a intake manifold.

radiators (HKS Kansai), seats (custom Bride), pulleys (no), intake manifold (no/Kansai but for diff app.), injectors and fuel pumps (HKS).

AZNDOC- the ones on egay that you saw i believe were authentic. ima try to get one and then lose weight to fit in it lol.

best chance is to get greddy parts. they make the majority of things listed and are not as expensive as jun/hks/tomei

screw all that and get the tomei crate. nothing else will be needed

Heh. I say Greddy also. Reasonable prices, still good quality. And the guys at Greddy are pretty cool. So that's another +1 for their customer service. :boink:

You must have 30 grand to spend.

Why did you use formal tense (vee) instead of informal tense (tee)? :coolugh:

<= Lived in Alaska for 12 years, where Russian is a requirement from grades 3-8. Didn't expect to ever use it on Zilvia! Ha!

This is the question most people are probably wanting to ask===

HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU HAVE TO INVEST IN THIS CAR/ENGINE?????

because if you have $15000 sitting around, you could buy the fully built TOMEI Derive motor

they also have RBs built the same way and actually any engine you want fully built.
or are you just enquiring so that as you save up money and buy part by part, you just want the best parts???

Greddy does make alot of the stuff I'll need. All parts don't have to be the same, but if the same company makes a bunch of parts I'm getting and it's not much more money, I'd rather keep it one brand.

Blitz makes alot of parts for the s14, but they are on the pricey side.
HKS and APEXi offers tons of stuff I need too. Tein and Cusco have most suspension parts, so all that could be the same.

Seems like there are people who work for performance companies that choose their parts from one catalog. Any suggestions?

Odessa is in Ukraine. I asked if he was Ukrainian in Russian.

I'm not from Ukraine, but I have been there. Spasibo za interes.

I don't have that much money, but as I keep buying parts, I want to have a vision for my car.

funny story. i went to JUN when they had a shop in Signal Hill on 29th street.
it was probably 98 or 99 and i wanted to get a SR installed. at this time not many shops did the SR swap, it was pretty rare. they qouted me 14,500.00 to put a STOCK SR motor in my 240sx. that didnt happen
