vq35 is a beast motor with tons of potential. go you for getting rid of it..sell it to me. still i dont see the point. lets get rid of a 3.5l v6 to get a 2.6l i6. yeah its not about displacement but your going to spend 15k and 5 years for something you couldve had with 5k and a few months. meh..thats just my opinion. good luck. do it right or dont do it at all.

Umm yes it will, there has been a huge debate on my350z.com about it, backed by several people that have done the swap. It would be neat to say you have an RB in a Z for sure. But after labor, parts, fabbing, and all other ends of the swap, You will be in it for alot more money. Props for doing it tho, if you've go the cash.

RB in a 350Z is pointless.... either Turbo the VQ or just keep it as is with a few minor bolt ons. No need for an RB in there. For less then the cost of the swap you could have a fully built motor with a Turbo. Easier to get parts for more practical.

For the cost to swap in a RB26, price of fabrication and to actually acquire the engine, you could use that money to build the VQ for boost. You also gotta think of the cost to build up the RB to make high HP. If your car already has an RB to begin with, then thats a different ball game.

Well thats the thing, if he wants to be different and throw money out there, then RB it is. Some people in here just got this impression that you do an RB swap, you automatically get 600 whp. Its not that simple, you still gotta build the engine to make that number and make it reliable. Instead of him just building the engine he got now, hes gonna have to do a swap that will cost atleast $10k to do (unless he gets sponsors and hook ups). Then build that RB to handle the power. If he just throws that $10k into a VQ, itll be just as good and be less of a hassle.

Hmmm...LS swap in a Z33...that could be very interesting. Bolt ons should be enough to get you to 350whp, then start strapping some nos on it (250 shot) or turbo it. Had a co-worker who had a Trans-am with the exhaust turbo in the trunk setup (cant remember the company who made it) and made 450whp with a generic T04E. He strapped an intercooler on it and and went methanol injection and is now making 610whp all on a stock bottom LS.

Why would you wanna put an ls7 in there? In all honesty the less stuff you can get away with doing to the car the more reliable it will be. Switching out serious shit like that can just get you into trouble quickly. Many many turbo kits on vq's make 400whp at like 8psi on stock motor. Seen several running mid 12's on street tires(not d/r) at the local track using the Turbonetics turbo kit.

Spend all the money you wanna do on getting that kit, turn the boost up to like 15 pounds with a built motor using the stroked vq40 crank and then you'd have over 500 at the wheels and mean ass tq.

Thanks guys i know thought about a lot of stuff to. Saw the first one at JGTC back in the day. Sick! This is where they are getting the new skyline base from wich is coming soon. I would sell the engine lots of people want $5,000. I will buy the car for $15,000. I had a light crash one for $6,000 i should of bought it!! FK! It was perfect the front was a little hit like LITTLE! I was thinking about turboin the stock engine. Maybe. You see i can get a RB26dett the whole clip for $3,500. I'd stick with the VQ,because even though I've owned an RB and love them the VQ is the new "tuner" platform. In Japan they are pulling the RB's from projects and replacing them with VQ's. So why go backwards boost the VQ brotha parts aren't abdundant as the RB but give it some time. Either way it will still be a nice ride.

Sr700hp? I think about what you could of have for 700hp.. RB platform.. Why 700 i just wanted 300 whp. I can drift any off or on ramp no problem in my stock Real Silvia KS.. Just needed little bit more power for 4th gear turns.. Then again i see something buy it fix it sell it all the time.. I have ownd a lot of cars so far.
I got this 240 with sr now to build but with all the new technology i would spend way more on a sr then i would want to..
Still would like to own a rb26 coupe.. But the 350z looks good. Cheap and sick at the same time...

and on top of it all.. I remember hearing that getting the rb26 into very high hp outputs (700+) it takes someone who really knows what they are doing..more so than other engines.. I may be wrong, but thats what I heard.. its easy to go wrong..
