so - on and off when i go in reverse it feels like either my differential is about to explode, or an armadillo got stuck in my wheel well...
i looked at the faq on 240sx.org and there were some hints about something having to do with brakes, but it never gave a definitive answer. has anyone had and fixed a similar problem?

Before putting it into reverse, shift to 1st gear and then shift it to reverse. See if that works as it worked for my Civic. I'm glad I crashed it because I own an S14a now. Hope this helps! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

I think any forward gear should work. Doesn't have to be first gear. I normally shift into fourth just cuz it's easier, and then into reverse.

does the sound dissappear when you apply the brakes lightly? if so your rotors either need to be cut (which is what i did) or replaced (depends on the remaining thickness of them)

I have had, and still have the same problem:crazy: , mine is for sure the brakes as it goes away with e-brake or brakes depressed. Answer is the hardware, clips I think specifically. My rotor is now scored, but I'm changing for Z32 up front, and some drilled or slotted in the rear...so I'm nott to excited about fixing it until then...Search here, as well as fresh alloy, but I think I found the answer at 240sx.org. If you check/adjust everything in the rear...you should fix it.
