difference between truck ka and 240 ka?

i was just wondering if the ka that came in the trucks had a different stroke or compression ratio...and if they did have a different stroke would the crank from them fit in the sohc? for a lil more displacement. for example if i were to buy a rebuild kit for my 89 sohc and the truck rebuild kit had a better compression due the the pistons or a better stroke due to the crank shaft would the parts be interchangeable? or are the same exact engine? thanks in advance

i hear that there are different sensors on the truck KA that make it non swappable into the S chassis without swapping over the whole wiring harness (chassis and engine). Myth or fact, its just somethin i remember from a while back

well i had both, not for that long unfortunetly. Intake mani is different, but bolt pattern is the same. If you wanted to put a S13 KA into a pickup just swap the intake manifold. Crank pulley is different. I've also read that the pickup is rated at 138hp and the s13 sohc is 140hp. Personally, both vehicles weighed about the same and stock for stock i beat a 95 1.5 civic by the same amount in both the s13 and truck. I read somewhere the S13 block is stronger, perhaps webbing in the block, or a girdle of some sort. rod and stroke are the same, crank is the same, dont remeber compression tho.

stroke/bore displacement is all the same. im pretty sure the block is alittle different tho. p/s is on the left and doesnt look to have the same brackets and shit as an s13/14 ka would. not really sure if itd be worth it to try to make it work.

Im not sure the SOHC pickups had powersteering, mine didnt. I know the DOHC pickups have powersteering, i drive one for work and its incredibly slow.

Also, i know it seems like no one makes aftermarket pistons for the SOHC motor, but if you are looking for a bump in compression like 10 to 1 compression, just order DOHC pistons for 11 to 1. In a SOHC they would make 10 to 1 i beleive. Someone correct me if im wrong.

Ok guys here we go. The KA and the myth of the truck engine.
The KA in the 240sx actually appeared before Nissan stuck the engine in the truck i.e. 1988 for the 89 model year. The KA in the truck appeared in 89 for the 90 model year.
Major differences: If you can call them major, are, throttle body injection vs port injection. Engine was retuned for Torque because thats what trucks use. 155 ft lbs of torque with 135 HP was the official factory rating for the truck and Nissan advertised these facts due to it being the most powerful for its class at the time. This engine used a flywheel with a larger clutch surface area aka 240mm vs 220mm on our engines. Hence this is where the White bunny mod idea came from.
Basically yes you can throw a 240sx KA engine in a truck lots of people have done it. In fact there used to be a member here on the forums in Arizona that put a DE in his.
