AD07's for no budget. =) =) =)
If you are on a budget take a look at some Federals. 595's. Pretty good tire for the money.
But isn't there a thread on this already?

I have the rt615 on right now and used the rs2 before. The rs2 felt greasy after a while. The rt615 is marginally better. I would say they are the best bang for the buck tires. However, there are better tires but expect to pay the price.

Michelin pilot sport cup...longest lasting R-compound I've used while still having a TON of grip. Definately getting another set when these burn up.

The RT615 is probably about the same for grip with better longevity and hydroplaning resistance. The RE01-Rs are about the same, and the AD07s are just marginally better in terms of overall grip.
Nankang, Federal, Wanli are all crap if you're looking to be a grip guy. We won't even let you in our club.
Nitto NT01R is actually pretty decent as well.

Like said above:
These two are at the top of my list
RT615(I am sold on these tires, love them, and love the price more)
REO1-R(Someday I will try them, but price is more then I want to spend at the moment)
unless you want to run straigt up R compounds with just 1 groove, which would not last lont for DD.

595 RS is a great tire in my opinion. Sticky, sticky, and sticky.
(flame on bitches...but most of you
1. don't know federal makes a RS.
2. haven't tried it.)

I think that it depends on what your going to be using the tires for.
Daily street, grip driving, or drifting.
I use Federals for drifting because that's what I do. I'm switching to RT-615 for the fronts and one pair for the rear to try out.
Going to try out some nexans (sp?) for the rear in a couple of weeks to see how they are.
For the rears for drifting who cares, as long as their cheap and they don't fucking chunk. I get like two an hour and a half on federals for the rears. The fronts maybe like two events. Also depends on what track I'm driving on also.
Ask Dousan. He'll tell you what's up I'm sure.
Or Logan. He's pretty knowledgeable with the tires stuff.
I suck at drifting.

RE-01R is where its at! I've used these tires for road racing on my STi and they have plenty of grip. These tires are the next best thing without stepping into r-compound territory and they are much cheaper than the AD07's.

If I remember this thread in a couple weeks when my tires finally come in, I'll let you know how well they grip ;) BFG GForce Sport, definitely a lower budget tire but they should grip pretty well from what I gather.

They do grip fairly well, but they have tread squirm, relatively soft sidewalls, and chunk badly when it's hot out.
They do last a while, though.

add dunlop direzza z1 in that list... i auto-x on them 3 weeks ago and it held on really well w/o having to spray them...
i'm about to try them on HTM this weekend...
not that cheap though but cheap enough... $130 each at tirerack right now...
not the most comfortable street tire but who care about comfort when you have stiff coilovers...

RE01 > RT-615 any day of the week. 2 of my friends had the 615's (one on a road/track STI and the other a stock M3) and they both hated them in terms of performance compared to the RE01's on all the other cars in our little group. they overheat extremely quick and squeal like a little school girl under hard corners andd they wore out in about 10,000-14,000 miles under harsh driving. oh, and after they wore out, they bought RE01's and loved them
