Well, I was stealing Dragon240sx's STB thread with sway stuff so I'm starting this one. Who has put sways on their car? I'll start with the rear bar cauz thats what I'm doing first. How did you get to the the screw on top. I don't know what the part is, but where it connects you have a screw with bushings and nuts on both sides, how do you get to the top one? Its right behind the tire, should I just take the tire off? Thanks in advance...

Take the wheels off....it gives alot more room to work with.

Take this bolt off. (There is another bolt on the other side of it, but you don't need to remove it for the bar to come off, but just incase you do, then do it)
http://kidzelda.freewebspace.com/images/picture_0319.jpg

then remove these bolts (already tooken out in the pic)

Do the same to the other side, take off the bar, then install the new one, and bolt in up back up !

I put a big 10 ton floor jack under the dif

how did you jack up the whole rear of the car? what kind of jack? You think just one stand under the diff is safe?

Like I said...10 ton floor jack...it's about 5 feet long and the handle itself is another 4 ft. With this jack it's pretty safe as long as the front is on the ground or on level stands. The jack is huge and the "plate" cups the dif perfectly...it's about 7-8" across. I do not think a single stand under the dif is safe b/c they don't have as big a base for the car to sit on so it'd probably be pretty tipsy.

Put the jack stands under anything solid, you could put them under the frame rails if you want. As long as they don't punch a hole through the bottom of the car if it happens to fall, you'll be safe. There's usually something on the side, probably in front of the differential that you can put them under.

how do you go about jacking up the front of the car completely? Also, would a 1 ton be able to handle the rear if you put jack stands under afterwards?

When I jacked up the fron I just did one side at a time an put a jack stand under the front subframe thingy??? a round metal bar right in from the front of the front tire...fits the grove on the jack stand perfectly. As for the back I still don't see a good place to put jack stands (on the frame rails will damage the body) and the only jack I own is the one that comes with the spare tire so I have to do it one side at a time.

Oh wow! It looks like I actually don't have anything I have to do today, I should be able to get my bars on. Woot! Anyway, what setting do you think I should start them out on? front has soft, med, hard rear has soft, hard. I'm thinking med front soft rear but I really dont' konw how this will feel. I'm ofcourse going to change it around a bit if its too hard or too soft, I just need a good starting point. How are yours set up?

OK I'M about to take my car to a shop! I can't get a single fucking screw off!
What the ####, do they super glue those things on?! I put half a fucking can of wd40 on and pushed so hard on that breaker bar I just about threw my car off the jack stands and they just won't budge.

I've got a quesiton, how possable is it for a car to slip off jack stands? My e-brake is on, I want to be able to push untill the screw brakes lose or I brake my braker bar or my hand, whatever gives first...I want to be able to do this witout getting crushed by my car which would quickly make this day go from bad to worse. So can I push as hard as I want or am I gona get killed if I do that?

Ok DSC, I'm waiting for my sway-bars to get here, so my question to you is what kind of sway-bars did you get? I got the Suspension Techniques sways for about $300 for both of em'. As far as not killing yourself under your car, I would
1) Have someone else there with me to give a hand
2) Make sure you chock the tires that are still on the ground, find a piece of 4x8 wood or something
3) Make sure your e-brake is on like you said, and depending on which way the car is facing, put the car in either 5th gear or reverse.
4) Use multiple jack stands if you can supporting different areas of the car.

I got whiteline's from pdm for 250, they didn't come with instructions either, so I've got two bags full of peices and I don't realy know where they go but that doesn't much matter since I can't get the old stock ones off . I finally after using even more wd40 and getting REALLY pissed off I was able to get two lose, on the 3rd one I was trying the bar sliped off the nut thrusting my hand into the underside of my car...fun I really would take it to a shop like I said earlier but I can't afford it :\

just get someone really strong to take the bolts. i did my brakes 2 weeks ago, and there were 2 bolts that take me over 20 minutes each to get off. i mean, i'm a pretty big guy, so i have no idea how someone half my size could do it without an air gun. anyways, i did it with only one jack stand (the one in the trunk). i had 2 others, but i saw no need. even with the parking brake down, the car still wasn't going anywhere. just make sure you put blocks on each side of the other wheels.

I'll try and get someone else to give it a shot then since I weigh a whopping 125
Theres not much more depressing than getting your car all jacked up and takeing it part of the way appart just to put it together again cauz your too weak to finish :\

They make your car stay flatter (reduces body roll, same thing) while cornering, increasing car balance and tire contact patch giveing you more grip so you can corner faster. I'm sure you can dig up some more info on how they make your car corner flatter over at www.turnfast.com but the site is down right now so I can't link you directly to it.

i'd come by and help you with those bolts, but you're 5000 miles away. i'm about 230, and i struggled a lot with the bolts. I'm definitely investing in an air gun...
