hey guys...just wondering how many of you guys out there would consider buying some brackets used to move your OEM s14 wing back a little further. like so:

they use your OEM holes on the top of the trunk lid and you'll have to drill on the back of the trunk lid for the supports.

i had originally seen this on a buddies car (who fabricated the brackets himself), and several of my other friends, as well as myself, had thought that that looked badass and would definitely have potential in the market...esp since it's OEM. i told him that i'd gauge the interest of people on the forums and see how many people would want them so that he could use mine as a template and start making more.

so if there are any interests, lemme know so i can start buggin him about it.

hmmmmm.... i'll pass, but good idea.

looks kind of goofy that far back. I'd move it forward 2 inches and not angle it quite so much.

I would buy it.

what's the price point?

I would buy it.

what's the price point?

since it's in the fabrication stages, i'd say anywhere from around 50-60 bucks. but i'll ask him and i'll get back to you.

I dont think I would ever consider buying. Good idea but just not me. It looks goofy and make the wing look like its floating in the air.

It's a good idea, but I'm already set on getting the jdm kouki wing.

Hmm I think more people would be interested in an aftermarket wing. especially of you have full aero too

hmm, i guess if you get used to it it might look good.

good idea tho!

Fyi: I am stealing your idea and redesigning it as a moulded part that doesn't need the suppport from the back of the trunk. Thanx...yer not getting royalties either.

i each his own i suppose.

i guess keeping it simple and OEM didn't work out in this case to the public. but i'm leaving it the way it is.

and LigouriRd...show me the pictures of the finished product, and then eat a dick.

As far as looks, not a fan. The flat underside mounts of the spoiler look dumb when they are exposed. Also, having the brackets mount in the original holes looks horrible because they are exposed.

As far as design, bad things could happen. Moving the spoiler that far back will create a large moment on the trunk. The brackets mounting in the original holes will now be put in tension and the bolts will start pulling the metal outward. Like wise, using only one bolt on the back of the trunk will probably result in denting the metal. Also, the aerodynamics where it is mounted could be bad creating even a larger down force than the stock location resulting in a larger moment. Its possible that these won't be an issue...but just a thought as to what should be considered.

thank you for your input. all these things will be considered as this is only a prototype.

as far as aerodynamics....shit, this is mainly for looks, and mainly just putting to use the s14 spoiler that many of us typically just get rid of.

try to get some better pictures from a distance and stuff... those are crappy for what your trying to sell...

thats like selling a set of wheels and taking a picture of the spokes only

great idea though... i know they make alot of brackets like that for the oem CTR wings...

I know its not a performance mod, its for looks (crappy looks personally) but looks. I'm not saying it will create more downforce in the sense of better performance, but saying there will be more force generated than what the stock spoiler sees. The larger force would make the moment larger causing more of a problem.

Not really likin' it man. Good try, its just the SE spoiler is plain. Your trying to make it into something it isn't.

I think its cool, if you put the price point low enough, I think there will be a market.
It certainly is a cheap way to make your car look different.

nice try but failed

its too far back, i think it would look better without a visible space between it and trunk

Sorry but that looks stupidly retarded...I cant even put my finger on what it is that makes it look so wrong.

Wingless or a lip spoiler ftw!!!

I kinda like it. Maybe 1" forward from where it is to create less of a gap between trunklid and spoiler.

Don't mind the zilvia haters.

Ehh its kinda cool, just not my cup of tea. If the spoiler was cf or something it would be cool. I like the car tho, same color as mine. What kinda front lip, sides and rear bumper lips is on that car?

like I said earlier, it needs to sit forward an inch or two. It looks like it's floating in space back there.

right, like an inch or 2 or 3, just keep moving it forward till it gets back to exactly where it was, it will look decent then.

it's as far forward as it can possibly go without actually having to make more holes in the trunk for the wing studs.

maybe i'm just getting the wrong angles on the pictures. it really doesn't look bad in person. if it weren't for the damn curvature of the thing it wouldn't look so tacky.

it sorta reminds me of the super-made gentlemans wing, but not as subtle.

Hey I would definitely be interested in purchasing these brackets but I would like it if the spoiler sat a little more lower like right on the corner of the top of the boot and the surface about the tail lights, placed more like this s14's spoiler

Would you be able to make them like this?
