Are z32 and s13 rear dampers exactly the same (aside from bottom mount)?
I am just researching my options here and there until I make a decision... my car is winter parked :(

I was wondering because, it would simplify things a bit in finding higher end dampers... i was looking at bilstein and what they have, and they have 300zx dampers-coilovers readily available... so if its the case I could for something like that.

I know that the 300zx upright is different (and better -> lighter aluminum), so that is something I would do down the line ANYWAYS...

More confirmed/valid info? :) I have no direct experience :(

Z32 shocks will be a little more damped due to the car being heavier. Though from the car's I've ridden in with Z32 shocks it's not a noticeable difference because you're still using S13 springs. With a coilover, you will want an S13 application but with a Z32 mount, a full Z32 coilover will probably have heavier springs as well.

what he said^^

Most companies can supply a Z32 lower mount with an S13 setup.
