I've got this tyte metal one but if you are on a budget you might want to go with something like fiberglass

eh.. manifold, schmanifold...
I know people rockin ssac and megan turbo manifolds for years, and they seem to hold up pretty well (i have no idea on hp gains tho). Just don't heat wrap the piping and you should be fine. Consider getting a flex pipe welded somewhere in your exhaust...

If you want reliability, its hard to beat cast iron. I personally wouldn't change the manifold unless I were changing the turbo as well. Ultimately, your bottleneck isn't the manifold, its the turbo. That being said, it would be a monumental blunder to slap a T25 on a full race manifold.
If you want power, focus more on a downpipe, exhaust, intercooler and tune.

Yup, that's why I have a Megan manifold going to my T25.
Works for me.

tomei expremmmeeeeee My boy has on e on his silvia.. it's pretty dope.. if you do get it make sure that you wear gloves and a long sleeve shirt.. fibreglass is a biootch lol.. my boy ended up throwing away the clothes he was wearing and was itching for like 3 days after that.. but the finished product is dope for sure.

forget megan and ssac. people have dynoed them and saw almost zero gains over the stock manifold. And then you have a very real chance that they will crack on you. personally, I plan on going with tomei expreme.

Doesnt matter what you have, get some stiffer engine mounts and a flex pipe on your DP. That should alleviate cracking on any manifold.
There's a shop here on Okinawa who makes their own manifold...its called S-tec and so far everybody who has gotten it in the last couple of yours have yet to run into any issue.

for those of you with the expreme, did you notice a sound difference? how does the exhaust rhythm sound?

Get a Full Race if you have the cash. IMO they make the dopest manifolds ever.

I've been running my tomei expreme for about 1.5 yrs now. No problems what so ever. If you look at my dyno you'll see the crazy turbo response. Love it.

like others said before this, no need to upgrade mani's use the cash for bigger turbo, or buy a downpipe, and exhaust...stock mani holds up great and is fine for stock T28",
in case everyone didnt notice he said he has an S14 blacktop, so its a T28 not T25

I noticed a little sound change , cant really explain just sounds a little more angry. a little quicker turbo response ,I would say its worth the money, sounds bad ass in my book.

Hate to burst the bubble, my Tomei Expreme Manifold didn't last me 4-5 months. Don't get me wrong, I like the design and how it spools my turbo, but was really disappointed when it cracked (on the dyno). I'll be putting money on either Full-Race or getting my welder to custom make me one using sch40 pipe material, none of this SS crap.
Either stick with stock cast Iron or go full out with Full-Race or HKS, umm Tomei is okay I guess...

I am using a stock manifold, but if I did change it out I would go with a Full Race Manifold:

I was gonna try extrude honing the stock manifold like codyace did. He got to 400whp with a gt2871r .64 and Greddy IM on the stock cast iron mani extrude honed.

only reason to QQ about the manifold cracking is if you dont have the right supporting items to help with the stress.
torque dampener, stiffer mounts, flex pipe on exhaust, and bracket from manifold to engine.

The Megan manifold sucked, I lost a bunch of bottom end with stock turbo. I went back to stock.
Now I am going with the gt2871r and going to try the peak performance manifold. Looks like a nice peice.

im runnin the megan racing manifold and have had good luck with it so far iv overheated it many times..
last race my gay stock thermostat didnt open and it overheated hard core!! like it was soo hot that i slowly with the heat on full blast drove all the was back to the pits and opend my hood and the manifold was still glowing red hot!!!!! and it didnt even crack after that!! so :) :)

as far as manifolds go.....almost all of them can crack. Even Raicer of Full-Race has told me some of his manifolds have cracked, but with the warranty..they were just shipped back to full race, and fixed. I've talked to alot of shop owners/friends/other random ppl, who have had first hand experience of just about every brand (popular ones at least) cracking. megan, tomei, peak boost, ssac, gtspec, dc sports, they've all cracked.
the more money you spend, the less chance of it cracking. Granted alot it comes down to how you drive it, and how well the car is running...if you lean out the mix for more power, odds are you'll crack the manifold. (its not always about vibration..)
with cheaper companies like megan and ssac...its really a crapshoot. About 50% of them crack....but sometimes you get lucky. I've been running a megan for the past 2 years..havent had a problem with it yet...Granted taking out the turbo/manifold could be a little easier if it werent for the taller tubing, but its doable..lol. Over the winter I'm planning on upgrading, either to a full race, or the tomei unit.

My old Boost Designs Manifold literally fell apart, cracks in stuff big enough to stick stuff through them.
!Zar!

Stock is fine. Only point to upgrade is when the turbo necessitates it.
Everyone complaining about cracks.
Stress from the exhaust and moisture + heat cause cracks.
Even oem will crack.
