wtf. is that a dohc cluster or sohc? ask the original owner. swap to a dohc or sr. not that hard. try searching for once

i did try to search and i put on the pic of the cluster i have on right now i just dont know which one it is i think its a dohc cluster though
and all i posted this was because i wanted information on why the rpms dont work
i was wondering if maybe it was the cluster or something was disconnected...jeez :/

You can tell the difference by SOHC - RPM = 6K Red | DOHC - RPM = 7K Red.

so its a sohc cluster then...right?
so how does the dohc cluster loook like ?

GRRRRRR

Maybe it's just me but...... isn't this the answer to the question you asked. And it was posted before you asked the quetion. It's easy go to a junk yard/friend/vendor that has a DOHC gauge cluster and purchase it. Or spend a little extra and buy a 180sx/Silvia gauge cluster. The choice is yours.

oh okay i see
so then the only way for the rpms to work
is to get a dohc gauge cluster or a 180sx gauge cluster

Not to sound like a complete ass, but if you did a little bit of searching you would of found this: http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=149256&highlight=defi

Notice the last post was yesterday, so all you had to do was search the headings of the first couple pages of Tech Talk, and it would of saved you a lot of time.

stfu. we gave him answers multiple times and he never searched. so it's his fault. did he complain? no. did he learn something new? yes. will he hopefully do it right next time, since we have told him what to do? yes.

you have 12 post and 2 red squares tells us all something... you're a dumbass. now get out this thread and leave zilvia while you're at it

ok this newb question is making me mad

its obviously a SOHC cause its 1989 the dude probably didnt change the tachometer when he did the SR (DOHC) swap. so the rpm don't work.

You'd know this if you swapped it.

Sounds like you dont know what it means

SOHC = Single Over Head Cams (What came in 89-90 240sx)
DOHC = Dual Over head cams (91+)

the DOHC and the SOHC tachometer dont look any different unless you get a JDM S13 or 180sx tachometer which teh redline goes to 9k instead of 8k

Try to search its all over the internet. This question has been ask about 58 times on other forums since i've been into 240sx's which is 4 years and it never comes to a end it just got worse 2 years ago... if anyone knows what i mean.

Dude just go out and buy a DOHC cluster out of a 91-93 240sx or get a JDM one swap the whole cluster over or just hte tachometer and have fun.

if you dont know how to remove the cluster search it there are plenty of DIYs out there. and maybe try buying the magazine Project Car it has nice pretty pictures in it with red markings to help

sorry to have a rude or sound like a @$$. but if you really did search then you would of found it.

Wrong.

SOHC and DOHC tachs have different redlines, both under 7000rpm. Very easy to tell apart.

:mrmeph: you don't even have anything productive to say so STFU. If you want to play mommy go do it somewhere else.

Were all glad you know the difference between SOHC and DOHC, and the years they were made. But next time you try to give someone facts make sure you search and give the correct info. The SOHC redline starts at 6k, DOHC 7k, and the SR starts at 7.5k. So I would say there is a difference besides that the Sr goes to 9k and KA goes to 8k

my point still stands tho. wow so i got afew rpms wrong so the f*** what. Just replace the Tachometer or the entire cluster and it should work. if it dont make sure connect is still good. and if you check everything and replaced the tacho and it still dont work come back and we'll help you out
