Haven't seen too many mid-mount Intercooler setup's here on Zilvia. Looks good. :bigok:

[Thread Jack]Here's mine:

Welded new Radiator mounts an inch or two back and shrouded the Intercooler. A good low-key setup. The fans pull a good amount of air through the IC while sitting still and I've had no heat-soak problems whatsoever.[/Thread Jack]

Why are you selling it?

i've decided to give v-mount a go, i like the mid mount and stuff but iunno. i guess i have more "craziness" to be desired? its a nice and efficient setup though i loved it!

to some of you this may be a dumb question but whats the point? i can draw my own conclusions but hell it may help the sale for those who dont know. in other words seems like alot more work for not alot of benefit? but maybe not?

protected intercooler, less pipes for air to fill (quicker spool), i recognized better temps personally but i did some other stuff when i did this, oh and it costs the same as a regular fmic setup

I'm actually considering to convert my FMIC to this setup. Primary reason is to hide the IC from the preying cops...

Johny5

haha yeah that too! mid-mount, the official fmic hiding tool of southern california! i can ship this setup with the turbo man ;)

this price is pretty open to discussion, throw out your offers!

is that just a regular xs power/ebay i/c? i actually want this but i don't even have a car to put it on yet. (i have to sell my s13 first) also you don't have to cut anyhting to make piping and/or i/c fit in that location? also can you show a pic of the drivers side? in the pics it looks like there is no room for piping

Jesus Stew that FMIC is the size of your radiator.

lolz

GLWS buddy.

Johny5

yeah you have to cut a TIIIIINY bit out of the core support behind the headlights so that it'll fit where the old endtanks went. there's no room for piping on the sides, all the new pipes are welded coming out of the fmic wrapping around the radiator.

still open to offers guys! r2d2 holds pretty high boost and sounds AMAZING!

thanks jack, you hear about the new rollers coming into texas? :)

GET SOME.

R2D2 is awesome (I heard it on Mats' car)
Midmount is awesome (I saw it on Mats' car)

Wouldnt this restrict air flow to the radiator?
Also the radiator gets hot and the intercooler will breath that in.

what exactly do you think is happening with a conventional front mount setup without proper ducting?

eclipse_dsm
10-19-2007, 10:42 PM
Some ducting and decent spacing between the IC and Radiator would be fine to avoid heat soak.

can you get some better pics..

Johny5

the pipe coming out of the fmic side is welded on at that angle, but i'll try to get pics.

I'm guessing you can not run your a/c with this setup?

Johny5
10-20-2007, 11:05 AM
you could bend hardlines and move the condensor like 3/4" more forward, put spcaers in front of the bolts and move the radiator back. but then you have a microwave sitting in front of your radiator, i just wouldn't see that being too efficient at all.

hmmm, $325! i'd like to see this on a car instead of collecting cobwebs in my garage

Do couplers come off the IC outlets or are there pipes welded on? From the angle of all these pics I just can't figure out what the connection between them is.

Johny5
10-22-2007, 06:57 AM
pipes welded on

Tenchuu
10-22-2007, 11:02 AM
know if this would fit on a RB25 setup nicely? IE room for fans out in front of the radiator but not in front of the IC. and tight turn for the pipe in front of the radiator?

Johny5
10-22-2007, 01:36 PM
yes you could make this work, you just need to push the intercooler more forward than i did, and maybe set the radiator back 1/4"? 1/2" if that.
