View Full Version : Skateboard bushings?

So my front end link bushings are pretty much gone.

I was wondering if I could use Doh-Doh skateboard bushings in place.
http://www.shortysinc.com/shortys_raw_11.05/OG_Hardware/images/Doh_top.jpg
Buying 4 of the bottom bushings would work, don't you think? Under $10.
I saw a pic of someone (I want to say yarou) using Doh-Doh's which inspired me to do the same.

The reason being...

I ordered new bushings for $9 something from PDM-Racing a week and a half ago, but I never received them. It said on the site that all orders under $20 would be charged a "service fee" which I didn't care about. So I called them to see what was going on with my order and they told me that since my order was under $20, they voided it

I checked with the Nissan dealer and they said they'd have to order the part from Cali and get it shipped all the way over here to Michigan (lady told me a week). Not to mention the total would be around $20 and the I believe they're rubber.

The noise over every lil' bump in the road is annoying as shit.

Yeah, skateboarding...def. good times back then (middle school for me).

I've since moved on to snowboarding. I can't wait for this season to get started.

Well, looks like I'm off to the skate shop :2f2f:

That's worth a try. I even thought of making engine mounts with skate wheels.

Don't see the need. Plenty of option exist and if money is an issue then there's the true-and-tried window sealant route.

Haha, I'm glad you liked my idea. I'd probably get some kind of aftermarket urethane bushing if I were you though since the hardness of the skate bushings are questionable. If you wanna try though, definitely get the black doh dohs and tell us how it goes. A 10 dollar experiment won't hurt

polyurethane tends to bind or disintigrate over time. I'd just find harder rubber bushings ala nismo.

I've got a stockpile of endlink bushings apparently.

Get the black ones, I think they're the hardest...ask the guy at the skateshop.

Different colors=different hardnesses.

I had a buddy in H.S. do this back in 93 on his old celica, said it worked great!

All you fools needing skatebo- I mean endlink bushings...

I probably have about 200000000000000000000000000000000000.

Just FYI

rainier: A buddy of mine actually has a freebord. They're fun, but Michigan is flatter than a pancake so no hills to ride down. Plus, I'm a park rat and don't freeride much (there's nothing special about freeriding in Michigan). PLUS...the car. :2f2f:

I actually haven't had a chance to drive my car since last evening. Don't worry, I drive my car a lot. A few of my buddies and I got crunkkk Canada style. I'm recovering today...

The Doh-Doh's replaced the rubber bushings really nicely though. I hope it drives just as well. The skate shop I went to didn't carry the black ones so I had to settle for the white (98 hardness) ones.

Yup, top and bottom. That's what I did. I don't see why they wouldn't work.

I agree, why worry if they're gonna fail, just buy parts that are for cars.

My pic? With the red doh-doh? It's just an s12, the rear shocks are mounted by a single bolt with some bushings so I used doh-doh's from my old skateboard. Totally different concept than the OP's question, but it seems to be just fine. Here's the rear susp I was talking about

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/nenhenry/summer%20project/IMG_3874.jpg

and this is the picture of the top of the shock with the doh-doh as a bushing

Guys have used Hockey Pucks to make engine mounts too.

Just because it (kinda) works, doesn't mean it should be done.

Props to Yarou for ingenuity and all, but you guys can get damn near ANY PART for S13's now-a-days. Just buy the right parts.
