I know there is the post your muffs but that thing is mad long and my computer is SLOW. I just need to see s13 custom exhaust pics, price, clearance, sound, etc, etc. I'm trying to see which route I want to take. I was thinking n1 style or dual muffler oe type. But some of you may have something I've yet to see. Thanks

Very true. The thing was I started regreting posting this right after I did. I hope it falls into the shadows un-noticed [smacking self in head]

Just go on YouTube for exhaust clips.
I think you'll get results way faster by just going through the Muff thread than waiting for pics this late.

The thing is I have a body kit and want stock body. I'm not a huge fan of n1's on stock body. Something just doesn't flow with it. So I'm bent between these 2. A dual oe looking muffler would look odd with my body kit until I can get it painted after stock body is on. Ugghh bought it with body kit not my idea to put on.

Yep, as is the Megan type 2 or whatever it's called.
Friend of mine has 3" piping and a flowmaster painted black, doesn't look too bad, his piping is just a horrible mess, not worth pics, lol.

I was going to get a custom one made. I wish you could just buy the megan type 2 muffler or w.e. it is. There are some decent looking dual mufflers on ebay but sound quality is unknown. Thanks for replies.

No, Meph has a Dart Izumi, it's me that you're thinking about, and I have discussed my exhaust with the starter of this very thread before...
This was March of this year.

Clearance is great! The exhaust sits nice and high and doesn't move around or rattle at all. Just make sure you have the piece that connects the exhaust to the transmission, this helps a bunch with the stability. I know a lot of 240's lose or dont have that piece anymore >_<

hmm...what's your engine setup? How does it sound? I contemplated on this exhaust vs. custom just for a piece of mind. The only thing that turned me more towards custom is the fact that the megan doesn't have a resonator...

I might pick that megan type 2 up for my daily, not too sure if I want to spend the money or not, but its subtle, easy, and can't sound too bad.

EXACTLY!!! Those universal mufflers are just spaced out too far for me. I love the type 2 and brm look. I'm not a huge fan of raspiness either. I even considered getting a $165 catco cat.

Whats up with the gangsta lean? JK. I gotta figure something out. Tired of the glass pack.

Glass packs suck. Megan type 2's too loud. Circuit Sports is better, still louder than I'd want with a KA (sounds good on an SR).
If I were gonna do it again, I'd do two different length 3" straight-through resonators (like a 12" and a 18") with 3" piping and ASpec's Blastpipes. It would be low profile enough, you wouldn't see anything except piping and the tips so you'd get the Dart Izumi look, and it would be QUIET as long as your foot's off the gas.
Oh, and it would only run about $200.
Till then I'll enjoy my very nice Apexi WS Noir.

This is my plan, but I will only run one resonator, I want loud, just without the harshness of a straight pipe.

That's pretty much what I'm running. Straight 3" into a 12" resonator, then straight to a 12" slant tip

LOL I think I'll just have to go with hi-flow 3" cat, 3" piping, 3" 18" resonator, magnaflow dual tip muffler. I was also deciding between a single tip and dual tip magnaflow muffler.

My carsound (magnaflow) was good on my old s13. Cheaper than catco too.
twofortyrida1388
10-19-2007, 03:56 PM
I might just go ahead and get 3" piping and slap a cat in for back pressure (I'm N/A). In the next few months I will be rocking an s14 t28 or an eaton m62 and then the cat will come out....decisions..decisions.

if you want loud just run open headers or open turbo elbow
if you want it to sound nice and loud at the same time, go custom.
twofortyrida1388
10-19-2007, 04:27 PM
N/A loud is different than boosted loud. Boosted loud just srceams and n/a is abnoxious. I'm now leaning to dart izumi or megan type 2 style. I think a sc'd s13 with stock body and megan type 2 would be a sick and subtle. You wouldnt here it blow off or spool. Oh and I just spent the past 2 days going through the post your muff thread. Only 2 or 3 caught my eye.

No. You don't need anything for backpressure. Backpressure is bad. Exhaust velocity good, backpressure bad.
Don't believe the myths that you learned in the Honda world.

The jackass at the muffler shop will try and perpetuate this myth as well, just tell him that you've done the research and that this is a bridge you're willing to cross without his opinion. Remind him that it is YOU that is paying HIM to do a job, not to make inaccurate assumptions about the nonexistent benefit of backpressure.

I would either go with aspec muffler with long tip or aspec blastpipes. You can't go wrong with either.

I plan on running dual setups. Right now juts ebay catback.
Future:
street setup: straight pipe, 3 inch, magnaflow muffler
track: straight pipe, 3 inch, blast pipes.
I will basically have two back sections made... It's a bitch to swap out but well worth it.
Although I'm so used to the loudness, might as well just do blaster pipes.

Backpressure never made sense to me but it was discussed so often it seemed to become true. The quicker you can exhale the faster you can get breathe(I guess).
