Question about the OEM CD player

i have an s14 se with the shitty factory oem cassette player and i want to buy one of the OEM CD players that came in some of the s14s.

is it the same size as the cassette player?
will it bolt right in?
also, is all the wiring the same so i can just plug it in and go?

as far as size goes.... yes.
bolt right in....... yes.
i'm not 100% on the wiring, but i'm pretty sure it'll plug right in.

It will not work. Although all 95-up Nissans use the same harness, the SE model with CD player uses a preamp deck, so installing it in your base model setup will give you no sound output until the volume is completely maxed out. You will need to add an external amplifier to bring the level up from the 0.5V or so the OE deck puts out to be able to hear anything. Best bet, find a CD deck from a 98-01 Altima, Xterra, Frontier, or similar model that's got a built in amplifier.

As mentioned above, any 95-up Nissan deck is a direct plug in. As long as it's a single or double DIN, it will also bolt right up. In fact, any Nissan radio dating back to 1988 will bolt up. It's only the weird shaped stuff like the Z33, Maxima, and newer Altima radios that won't mount up right.
