I just got a rolling chassis 89 s13 and have a s13 tranny would that tranny match up w/ a s14 95 KA24DE and also what type of difficulties would i encounter by putting the the engine into my s13. Other than having the specific year ecu/harness.

This is probably a simple answer yet i could not find it.

THank you

the sensors on the trans are different.

all ka trannies any year work for all ka engines. don't quote me on this part, but u may need to drill a whole in ur tranny to accomodate for the crank angle sensor. not sure if that started on 95+ or 96+ models thou.

other difficulties? take ur time dropping the engine in.. carefull not to smash the harnesses or hard lines.. have helpers around. aligning the engine and bolting the exhaust is probly as hard as it gets...

I believe crank sensors began in pre 1996 OBDII. The long blocks are virtually the same. As you may encounter here in the forums that the heads are slightly different (bolt wise). To install the s14 ka into s13 is a matter of acquiring the right parts. Oh Ho wait! You have a 95 KA! That will plug right in! I'm not sure on the transmissions, but I'm for sure the long block. What year S13 do you have? I believe 92-94 are direct plug and play.

Cheers!

All S14s have the CPS, but you don't need it. For the easiest shot you'll need a 91-94 harness and ECU, otherwise you'll be doing a lot of splicing and rewiring to the 95 harness to make it work.

There's plenty of info on what's required, search. You'll also need an 91-94 PS steering setup if you intend to keep power steering.

Damn! Russ says and knows it all. Listen to him. He knows everything that needs to be done to your S-chassis.

Good luck and have mucho fun with your new engine!

i just went threw this a couple weeks ago so i might be able to give u a hand here

engines 95 (like mine)
chassis zenki (89-90)

as far as plugs go u needs the S13 DOHC harness and ECU (MT or AT doesnt matter, though if u go wiht an AT ecu no rev limiter)

ur lower harness ( if on the shell) will plug up to ur tranny no prob

i dunno if the engine came off an AT, if it did, im 90% sure u need to change the TB or atleast TPS for a S13 DOHC TPS ( it only has 1 plus for the engine harness)

might also wanna change the Alternator and P/S pump because ive herd and witness a P/S blow

u need those 2 from a DOHC s13 aswell

and the S13 DOHC P/S lines aswell

dont forget about the MAF...needs to be a DOHCs13 one...

my biggest suggestion would be change ALL the hoses and thermastat...so much easier with engine out...and if u have money for it timing chain...

wut else.....if ur running the exaust of a SOHC (up to the downpipe) get the DOHC headers from a s13 because the flange is different on the s14 headers...and the EGR pipe (the copper one in th eback) aswell needs to be from the dohc s13 aswell...

as far as the CPS u dont need it...ull throw a CEL but it dosnt really matter...u wanna avoid throwing a CEL just drop in a 89-94 tranny...sensor not there so easiest fix.

I have a 95KA on my 89 S13. Nothing changed out either. I used a 95 MT ecu and there's like four wires I had to extend from the s13 body harness (the two plugs between the battery and fender) all the way to the ECU plug. A 95 KA harness was used for this too. You will neef the DOHC p/s lines to make it work. I also used the s14 KA maf. Use the S14 header and down pipe and it should bolt on with no problem.

He certainly does not a lot about the 240sx, and most of the information....is off the top of his head. However he does not know everything. I will digress though....like anyone else if he does not know the answer he will get back to you with the answer.
