You mean the intake valve? You dont see anything when the exhaust valve opens. Yeah its pretty cool, reminds me of rocket taking off or something....

When it combusts though, why is it combusting more around the intake valve?

i think its because the air is colder, theres more oxygen, or most likley gasoline sticks to the valve
