S14 Kouki Rear Bumper Foam Or No Foam????

I recently picked up a jdm rear bumper during the install I figured out that it couldn't fit with the white foam. My question is for the people that have the same bumper is are you using the foam or not. After a couple hours of hacking away with my ginsu knives i still need to cut more. Is it worth the trouble of cutting up the foam?? Also how did you guys mount your license plates because all i got is some trusty old zip ties

I trimmed the foam on my S14 Zenki (not sure if there's a different) to put the JDM Kouki bumper on. As for the plate, I used zip ties.

I just took the foam out and used zip ties for the liscence plate. right now im working on a carbon fiber bracket for the plate

I installed my foam. I cut it with a hacksaw, so it was much easier trimming it. The foam helps disperse the impact over the entire bumper, so it is less likely to break apart if you hit something. If there's no foam, it will concentrate that impact to that one spot, which will likely cause more damage than it really needs to.

I have the bumper on my car right now but if a shopping cart run into it i think it would be a rap!!...and that would suck big time

ok no foam and zips....there has got to be something missing from the rear bumper why we all need zip ties I couldn't imagine people in japan don't have any why to screw there plates down??? does anyone have a pic of a jdm spec silvia rear bumper w/o plate??? I'm curious because 1) paid a lot for the bumper hate to have some one destroy it by just tapping it 2) I got custo. plates for my car and I don't want to loose them. Also I live ny somebody will just snip the zip tie just for fun!!!!

Screw that into the crash bar then bolt the Plate onto it.

what did you use to trim it?

- No foam
- Double sided tape and self tapping screws for the plate
- I also painted the area behind the plate black so it would look better since the hole for the plate is huge

I used a regular hacksaw. It'll be even much easier if you have an electric sawzaw.

didn't use the foam on mine. had to drill holes on top anyhow to mount it. I used self tapping screws for that. For the rear license plate, i ordered some nissan front clips and blots for the front license plate, drilled 2 holes on the lower portion of the license area on the rear bumper and used the hardware i got from nissan to mount it up using the 2 bottom lower holes on license plate.

Use the foam and for the lic. plate section cut the entire section along the inside edge of where the plate attaches to with a razor. Slide the cut out portion over the two bottom tabs on the kouki bumper and secure the top with screws.
