After 2 hours of searching on google, numerous forums and several sites, I was not able to find out the answer to this question:

Can I fit the stock exhaust (from exhaust muffler tip to downpipe) on to my sr20det Blacktop in my S14/95 240sx?

I did some searching online to see if this would work, and on a forum some guy said it was possible to put on the stock exhaust pipe onto the sr20det. no problem. well this is not the case. :squint:

i went ahead and started to take off this:

My Greddy Exmag 2 with a Test pipe and the Greddy MX Downpipe. :x:

so i could put this on:

Stock S14 Exhaust pipe for my KA24DE which i had lying around since i did the swap.

but as you can see here:
http://www.mudassir.com/images/stock1.JPG
There are 2 screws and one hole.

but on the sr20det exhaust manifold, there are three bolts sticking out. This is not going to fit. :rant2:
and all this while not even looking at the fact that the sr20det turbo outlet pipe sits much lower than the KA24DE exhaust manifold. some info i learned while doing my extensive search on this topic.

So its pretty obvious, this is not going to work.

Now in order to do this do I get a stock sr20det downpipe and attach it somewhere to my stock cat? Seems like the stock downpipe for the KA is definitely not going to fit unless i remove those bolts and drill a larger hole for the turbo outlet to fit.

What are my options? My car is on jacks and awaits the install.

I need to do this since I need to make this smog-friendly.
I await the flames, missles and newbie comments...

I would have to say yes, though im not 100 % sure,

The exhaust are made for the car not the engine, the downpipe should come down the same way the factory manifold did so i don't see any problems

I believe you can use it, but imo you should just use the downpipe and buy a bolt on catco. Then you can bolt on your stock exhaust.

It should work. Have you tried to knock out those two studs and bolt up the KA cat/downpipe? How is it that you can make a SR smog legal?

Good luck

bolt on catco? that goes from 3" to <2" ?

because the greddy downpipe goes to 3" out.

Are you referring to the sr20det Stock downpipe?

I don't know if it will pass smog. I have yet to check that avenue out. Im trying to test it out with the stock cat/exhaust system.

Anyone has one of these sr20det stock downpipe available to sell or lying around?

Yes bolts right on. You will need to use the sr down pipe though.

Cool Thanks. Im searching for a downpipe right now. I just need a used one, that'll do. IF anyone has it PM me.

While i was under the car. I saw on the tranny by the 5th position sensor., or some sensor that im not using. Maybe the reverse light sensor. anyway. There was oil leaking from there. How bad is that? can i somehow plug that place up?
