I have a S14 with a S15 engine and tranny swapped on my S14. As right now, my speedometer doesn't work and Temp gauge doesn't work. How do you fix it?

Let me know, Thanks Zilvia Members :)

S15s don't have the speed sensor in the tranny. It's Search time...

Wow, dude you didn't realize this before you started the swap?

Speed sensor for the S15 is located in the rear differential.

Yeah, you should definitely stop what you're doing and do more research as this is one of the more obvious modifications that need to be made to swap in an S15 engine.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

have fun learning your speed by rpm and gear...

If you're temp gauge doesn't work, get a water temp sensor and a gauge and tap it to one of your rad lines. Or maybe you need an s15 instrument cluster to go with the s15 temp sensor? or maybe you need an s14 temp sensor to go with the s14 instrument cluster?

have fun finding s15 rear diff.

I think he is saying he is using a S14 SR20 trans with a S15 engine guys....

I learned my speed by rpm and gear cause I've been too lazy to hook up a speed sensor. I just followed the flow of traffic at night (cause I think people tend to speed less) and got an estimate. Plus, you can pretty much just go by feel and know if you're speeding (if that's what worries people).

As for the water temp. gauge, just get an aftermarket gauge and sensor like oppenheimer said. You get a more accurate reading than just a needle floating around in the cluster and you get to up your balla status lol.

Ditto. I just drive in fifth gear around 3k rpm on the fwy, goes about ~70mph.
as far as streets go, go along the other cars.

I also hooked up a bluetooth gps adapter to my pda to tell me how fast im going, but its too much work setting that thing up. Its called GPS Speed sentry, also has an odometer that reads the miles.
That can be another solution for you to hook up a gps unit with big numbers to tell you how fast you go. I dont think the engine needs to know the speed to calculate anything, correct me if im wrong.

thanks for all the replies guys, I was reading the FSM and I was looking at S15's tranny and I couldn't see any sensors on it but now I know it's in the diff. Will it work if I use an aftermarket speedo but where do I tap those wires in? I needed help!!

PS: I got a Temp gauge :P

Aftermarket speedo it's only good for drifting. :duh:

jk

Never heard of an aftermarket speedo. Want to rock the 6-speed, get the rear S15 diff aswell or switch to a 5-speed tranny and be done with it.
I would personally rather have the S15 diff for traction purposes than the 6-speed tranny.

OMG guys, I'm sorry to be a noob :P but people will learn if there's someone to advice them.

How much would a s15 diff go for?

I don't know. You should probably cruise around the interwebz to find out.

Or maybe ask whoever sold you your JDM tYtE S15 Silvia engine to begin with.
