I saw this over on the 240sxforums.

Any one have experience with it?

Supposedly its like a welded diff.
But it has a lil play so you wouldnt be dragging a tire all the time.

Yea, I don't like the look of that.

If your welding the spider gears, I would be of the school of make sure as hell nothing moves anymore, lol.:aw:

its got about a quarter turn of "play" before it locks, this would be useless on the back of a 240. Its used on the front of a jeep/other 4x4 vehicle to make steering a bit easier

Weld Locd FAQ

Will a Weld Locd cause premature tire wear ?
Tires will wear faster, but it will not be significant.

Will a Weld Locd be annoying on the street?
On tight, low speed turns such as U-turns and while parking, the inside tire will skip. People may look at you funny, but no real damage is being done. A clunking 1.5 or 2-Way diff would be equally as annoying.

Is a Weld Locd dangerous?
The Weld Locd may feel strange at first, but once you understand how to drive with it, it's 100% predictable.

Wouldn't it be better just to get a 1.5 or 2-Way?
For road racing, yes. For drifting, we've found that the the Weld Locd is really great. A 2-Way may engage and disengage mid-drift, while the Weld Locd is constantly locked, making it more consistant and predictable.

How long will a Weld Locd last ?
There are over 200 Weld Locds on the streets now, including several V1's from five years ago. None of them have broken or worn out.

Will the Weld Locd cause my axles or other suspension pieces to break?
The most powerful car we've used a Weld Locd in is our 400hp LS1-powered FD with 275/35 R18 RT-615's in the rear, and it held up just fine all last season.

Can my diff be converted to a Weld Locd ?
We can convert all open and Torsen differentials to a Weld Locd. Unfortunately VLSD's and clutch type diffs cannot be converted.

What's the difference between the V3 and the V4?
We are continually improving the methods and materials used to convert diffs to Weld Locds. Unfortunately, this is top secret information, so we can't share specifics.

The weld locd has a name all its own due to the performance record. We have done over 250 of these over the last 5 years. Not 1 has broken!!!

We also have added metal gear stoppers which I have not seen anyone else feature.
