I'm looking into getting a new steering wheel for my S14, but I was curious as to the advantages/disadvantages to the 2 types of materials. Will leather last longer, does suede hold up better? The car will be used for a good amount of daily driving and about 6 drift events per year, if that helps. Help me out if you can.

Suede is only good if you plan on wearing your driving gloves 99% of the time.

The grease from your hands will ruin it over time.

Good point, I never even thought about that.

Suede will wear faster but is less prone to slip on you.
I went with the Personal Pole Position. I love the shape and feel of this one in particular. half-n-half, suede inner regular leather outer.

I leave gloves in my car because I tend to not wash my hands til I'm done with a project. If it survives then great, if not then I'm sure I can deal with it.

i prefer the feel of suede. i rewrapped my nardi myself (took for ever and the stitching ain't pretty) but chernobyl is right, its wearing fast cuz my hands are often dirty ( i'm a mechanic). i'll try to post some pix later of it.

Suede feels great, doesn't get as hot, and grips better than leather, but doesn't last as long, even if you drive with clean hands.

I love my Nardi Deep Corn and will have it professionally recovered when it wears out.

Suede feels really nice, but it's really supposed to be used with gloves for longevity and grip.

I have a leather and it feels nice too.

Suede sucks. Gets dirty faster than two chicks mud wrestling and wears almost as quick.

That visual makes me WANT suede.

Alas, I have a leather Nardi, and I strongly suggest it for reasons already stated, suede WILL wear out and the oils in your hand will definitely fuck it up more quickly

Leather > Suede for something you touch everyday.

If not it will get matted and ugly in hurry.
