View Full Version : Lets rant on some bullshit: emo fashion

I'm getting a bit sick of the fashion. See, every once and a while.. times change and everything aligns PERFECTLY. For instance, right now.. 240 parts are plentiful, much because all of this shit is in demand. But then after this passes, FUCK.

FUCK. Thats all you can say, because all parts are gone. Most cars have been crashed, and the 240 will be a bitch of a car to say, find a dash or a door panel for.

About 3-4 years ago, I was able to find jeans that were fuckin SMOOTH: Gap 1969 boot-leg. A nice, boxy jean that just fits like any jean SHOULD fit. Straight-leg, good around the waist, just fuckin baller. When I was single, girls were always grabbin my ass with these damn jeans. Yep, that good.

But right around the time everyone started wearing wrist-bands, shit started going downhill. It started with Lance Armstrong wristbands, then these emo sweatbands took over. Now, jeans turned into BULLSHIT. We've passed the crest and we're left with SHIT styling designed for anorexic emo fucks.

I can talk about the style I saw at the party I went to last night, or at the local pizza shop I go to at 2AM for a late-nite snack, doesnt matter.. the fucking style is making me puke. Lets analyze.

- Hair: Whats with this smoothed over, cabbage haircut that people rock nowadays? Fuckers all look like they've been in the rain crying.
- Shirts: Yup, its a no-brainer.. everyone is wearing a fucking striped polo shirt of some type, that is un-tucked and hangs OUT UNDERNEATH their sweater.. what?!?! Yes, I said SWEATER.
- Sweater: You've just admitted that you're ghey. Real men wear jackets. Sweaters are ghey. The only 2 men who can get away with wearing a sweater would be Mr Furley from Three's Company or Mr Rogers from Mr. Roger's Neighborhood.
- Jeans: They're always these low-cut, low-waist line jeans that look like someone's kicked you in the ASS, HARD. What the FUCK, low jeans are for WOMEN, and even then I still prefer normal jeans on women so that it can encompass they're beautiful asses and make them look like two midgets in a sleeping bag. From time to time I see nice low waist jeans on women, but men.. what the FUCK is wrong with you guys? Unless you're looking to get butt-raped, wear jeans that cover your ass.

Anyway, I'm done ranting for now. Just think to yourself, do you dress like this? Why? If you do, who told you to dress like this? Consider a different style. The last thing you want to be is gay, unless you are gay - then thats okay. Not like theres anything wrong with that. (Except your straight friends will always call you a cocksucker when you're not looking).

hahahahah

shit, i gotta agree.

when i see kids wearing those girl jeans, i cant help but to worry about the future of mankind. in 20 years mankind may not even exist because it will then be womankind.

dickies will all be $40 and funky looking.
sweatshirts will all cost somewhere over $10
shirts will cost more than $5
coveralls? who needs those? no need for mechanics cuz nobody has cars cuz emo fags dont drive.

the horror. i hope this is a fad like pokemon or pogs, or maybe this "style" will continue to rise in popularity and people will look me wierd because im wearing dickies and a t-shirt.

I get them at the Levi's outlet/annex store either in Charlotte or Smithfield, NC for $20-25 a pair and love them. I am too big and my skin is too dark for me to be emo (racial generalizations are fun on some Saturday afternoons).

phlip, as emo lol that would be some funny shit. Ya jeans that fit are one thing. Skinny ass shit thats glued to the skin, well shit guys stretch jeans went out with the whole goth thing in the early 90's. When rave took over. LOL remember everyone wore jeans that were ten sizes to large and the funny thing is I used to hear people ripping on the kids and there clown pants.

Fads come and go and this one will as well. Style is such a round and round thing. Shit comes goes comes back again with a new twist. What about all the fucks that were wearing 70's style clothes like bell bottoms and shit. Man like I needed to see that shit again. lol

Yeah some Diesels and Levis.

I fucken love jeans though, i spend as much dedication to my jeans as i do to my 240sx. Its worth it since they both get me laid as well then again the jeans are the ones doing for me the 240sx provides transportation and a place to get jiggy.

Don't want to stray away from the subject but i live in a very conservative state and i wear what ever the fuck i want to wear, usually some shit you would say he must be fucking badass. I see clones everywhere from hollister, emo, wannabe gangsters to just put on some pants and a baggy sweater. WTF! When i hear them talking that they are unique and blah, blah, blah :barf:.

Clothes say a lot more than you think. I agree though, people tend to burn out shit quick. I actually liked driving my Honda 10 years ago and now everyone that has one is a jackass who doesn't know how to drive... its almost impossible to get a good deal on one too.

Skurban or "Emo Hip Hop"

”emo hip hop” that’s hip hop heads in tight jeans for us in the know but there’s a new word on the block for those not content with emo hip hop or mash the word is a combination of skate and urban and so we have “Skurban”. The genius that came up with this obviously had to justify this new word and here come the explanation. The new fashion of Skurban was popularised by hip hop superstars such as Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell Williams or were both ex-skaters and have both dabbled with fashion. Pharrell must be know for his connection with Bape and later founding Ice Cream and BBC (not the TV channel).

So what typifies Skurban well as far as we can see it’s pretty much just the development of clothing but lets humour them, so it’s now all about tighter fitting clothing ie jeans not so baggy and tops hat fit instead of XXXL the other really important thing is colourful prints and we’d like to add all over prints.

So that all said at The urban Shop we have noticed jeans getting tighter for about 4 season that 2 years but they still aint tight unless you go for that killer emo look and we don’t really have any of them our jeans have now gone from phat or relaxed to trim fit and there as been a definite move form XL to people buying their size with emo a size smaller. A design feature that we have been rocking for a while though has to be all over and colourful prints and you will see more coming in for spring/summer.

http://bp3.blogger.com/_lAoU1Nn5vUg/RdGQCrJ2C7I/AAAAAAAAADY/hdYHYm7smFQ/s320/bape.jpg

Basicly this is what you see in the fashion thread and in most high schools across the US. Tight Emo pants with nikes and multi colored shirts and/or XXL Jackets and caps. Its funny how people try so hard to be different and unique but end up looking the same as every other pop culture kid. Just be yourself and stop following silly trends.

Emocide:

A gathering of underground metal bands, occurring in the inland empire of Southern California. "Emocide", now a yearly event, began as members of several local metal bands complained about the popularity of the Emo style, pathetic attitudes of most anything emo, the somewhat unfriendliness of venues, and unfairness of society in general, toward people who prefer music of the deathmetal, grindcore and blackmetal variety. Disgruntled band members decided to throw a party, made a flyer and invited all their friends to join them. On a whim they decided to call the event "Emocide", somewhat in agreement with the term "emocide", i.e.: death to anything "emo", would be something to celebrate. Since that first gathering the event has become synonomous, (at least in the local underground metal community) with a yearly gathering of the area's most extreme underground metal bands, along with family, friends and fans, getting together once a year to appreciate underground metal, moshing & discussing ways to support and promote the music they love, the old school way - DIY style, in the vain of the metal militia street teams supporting and promoting an underground metal garage band, who called themselves Metallica.

I hate following a cool trend or fashion. I'd much rather do my own thing. I don't judge anyone, but those kids think they are being individuals by dressing like that and listening to that music, psssh.

OurOnePassion

"Scene kids", as I/we call the ones who dress emo but come to the metal shows... I think they try to trick people into thinking they are metal. But when EVERYONE is wearing the same pair of pants that the one girl in the back is wearing... gruff. And the damn bandannas around the neck/face/head like they're trying to be gangsta. And the hair, yes. And the hoodies that are waywayway too small(I like small hoodies, and these people's are WAYYYY too small).

They come to the shows and dance. They dance together in-sync... that's not fucking metal. Coming to a show to dance and not even know what the fuck the band is playing. The two-step as shown in the first minute and a half or so... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofcfQj77ojM
But there are some forms of "hardcore dancing" that are fun to do when the time is right. And circle pits.
God dammit.

This is at a reunion show... a badass local band... and the little fuckers wouldn't shut the fuck up. Robby(the singer) is pouring his guts out(about being molested as a child) and they kept going. He said something before the filming started about their "hair being fine"... it may have been in the vid, don't remember. He says some shit to 'em just a little into it.
If you watch into the music part -- it was really loud and the mic on the camera couldn't keep up. This makes me all warm and fuzzy inside...

I don't wear baggy jinco rave jeans or jeans that are ten sizes to big, but now its almost like it is cool to wear pants that looks like they are spandex, I just don't get why a guy would want to wear a pair of jeans that he has to zip up with a pair of pliers.
I used to have longer hair, 3 years ago before i moved to so cal, and once I caught a hint of the gayness in it that would soon spread and become scene I cut that shit, I mean I think if that is how you feel, than wear it but I think you should understand the awkward looks you get being an emo kid cause your going out of your way to get attention by dressing like a girl.
I think the closest thing to wearing make up and being cool would have to be motley crue. but whatever floats your boat.

Style and fashion trends are retarded right now. The plight of finding the right jeans does not only affect guys. There are normal girls that don't like low-rise, tight ass shit. I JUST found pants that fit normally at Old Navy. I like pants to sit where they're supposed to.

Emo look is too much for me. I don't like the fact that guys wear pants that are smaller sizes than what I wear. It gives me a complex. I can't find normal clothes anymore. Everything is made to fit way too tight. They make clothes for fetuses and anorexic emo tweens.

And screw you Edgar, I go to Marshall's and TJMaxx. I'm not spending 100 bucks on one outfit at the mall when I can go there and get a decent amount of clothes for the same price.

The only problem I have with it is that I have trouble finding clothes that I like because this emo fad is so in that clothes manufacturers jump on the bandwagon and they won't make anything else. They also will make the clothes smaller to fit the fad, making it even more difficult. I don't know if this is the case with guys' clothes, but it runs rampant in girls' clothes. I've come to the point of actually considering buying guys' clothes just so I can be comfortable.

It's not about how much you spend. It's about how you can work with what you got. Ok, you don't like to spend much money. Understandable. Seriously.

Every few years some new subculture becomes the defining trend for the 14-18 age group.

Punk, Goth, Mod, Ska, Skater, Banger, Raver, Rocker, whatever.

I could give two shits less about scene kids.

They're good for a few laughs and a couple of decent songs.

Other than that let 'em do their thing.

Besides, they're so introspective that they'd burst into flames (or drown in their own bitter tears) if they ever started talking to anyone outside the scene.

Scene kids ruined camo too. I rock the camo shorts, then they wanna be like me. I still rock the camo harder than they could ever want to -- something. I ran out of words.

I'm cooler than them because I play guitar 1000000x's better than they do.

Industrial vs. Emo

I remeber being at a bullets and octane shwo and some emo kid was fucking "hardcore" dancing flailing his fucking arms and acidently hit my homie greg in the side of the head, he probably weighed about 100 lbs, and probably couldnt see because of his hair.

well needless to say, greg dive bombed his ass (greg is german an scottish and weighs about 200 lbs, 6 ft 1) and there was so much blood we though greg killed the poor kid, the little emo backup dancers started to surround me and my other two nordic friends like little munchkins from Charlie and chocolate factory we just pushed them out of the way and they fell back like 20 feet into the sides of the pit, then the secuirty came, and couldnt seem to manage to get greg off the emo kid, who was getting pummelled, oh well we eneded up leaving they ruined the show anyways.

cheap = manly.
style = girly.

im probably a minority, but thats how i see things.
afterall, theyre just clothes. i'd rather roll on work's than wear some bullshit designer jeans. i wear whats comfortable, not whats fashionable.

i've got a few more expensive pieces of clothery in my collection, but nothing that busts the budget. i think my leather jacket is probably one of my more expensive ownages, but its a great jacket. oh yeah, i also have a motorcycle jacket (but no motorcycle).. haha what a fucking POSER I am! I love it. People come up to me like i'm a celebrity "uhh hey man, what kinda bike do you have..."

i also have a few "BMW" or "///M" baseball caps, and people think i own a BMW or love BMWs. its fun owning weird shit just to see how people respond. i'm all "nah man, i dont own a bmw.. actually, dont even like bmw's much.. but i like cheap hats"

My only real complaint is how it's affecting sizing.
I wear medium sized shirts, but it seems like only 2/3 of the shirts I buy now actually turn out to be that size.
The others are small-sized, but say medium on them.
That sucks.

I found some normal ones at Old Navy, finally.

i fucking HATE old navy, they're the weakest link of the gap-chain.. their jeans feel thin like paper, and end up flapping when you walk. they never fit right.

to me, the gap 1969 has always been a good jean.. as long as i can find it in a damn boot cut that is a straight leg.. not that tight shit.

one thing i hate... paying more than 30-50 for jeans. jeans should ALWAYS be 30 bucks, period.

Sizing has always been relative. I'm a large in some stores... a small in others. I just wear what fits and don't even pay attention to the sizing.

6'0" and 170lbs is not large, but it still is taller then most (Avg. adult male height worldwide is around 5'9" according to my university anatomy text), but at 6'0" and 170 you're a GIANT compared to most emo kids... you weigh almost as much as 2 of most of them. haha.
At 6'2" with running shoes, and 175lbs. I'm taller then most people, but I tower over almost all emo kids I've ever seen.

I don't hate on emo guys or anything, I just think they look silly. A good friends of mine is as emo as fuck, but he's a cool guy. He just likes that look I guess. To each there own.

EDIT: I do remember one time when a 5'6"ish 120lb max. emo kid tried starting a fight with my buddy.

Who is 6'8" and 265lbs. (I've always been one to argue that stature is not all that matters... but in this case... well...lol)

I don't know, I just don't see the point of looking depressed for no reason. It was cool back in the day, when it was just considered punk (which I still think it really is), because it was the non-conformist thing to do. But now there's really nothing to rebel against, just because most everything is so accepted. When it becomes the "scene" or the "fad", it's not the "rebel" thing to do anymore because it is so widely accepted.

Uh.....

Did I stutter? It still all looks the same to me. There are only a few emo/scene (whatever) people that I know, and of those, there's only one that I'm cool with (HI JOHNNY!!!! LOL).

You're missing the point I was trying to make.

I'm saying that you don't really know.

Scene kids aren't tortured souls.
Scene kids aren't depressed.
Scene kids aren't rebels.

Like...i'm not trying to change your mind and I truly don't really care much, I was just trying to say something you know? YARRRRR I'M A PIRATE

I personaly like/listen to norma jean and other bands in that catagory of music but i dont dress emo or have gay hair!

Same here.

I look pretty "normal" compared to them...

But chances are I listen to harder music than them.

MY point is that they all LOOK the same to me. My other point is that it all reminds me of the punk/Sid Vicious era. I wasn't really trying to argue, I'm just saying... it's all the same. Emo, scene, punk- whatever. I'm just old.

I've never really bought into fashion, I make my own.:rawk:

You go girl!

Ironically what you say about emo/goth kids is what cops say about tracksluts/street racers "they all look the same" :(

And yeah Johnny's pretty emo.

Yea, I don't look like one of those either. I look like a girlfriend driving the boyfriend's car, haha. If they only knew.....

One of my best friends drives and 06 Spec V and everyone thinks she's cruising in her bf's car...but i'd be lying if I didn't say she's one of the best drivers I know. Like, I want to drive the way she drives, it's so great.

Cops always think i'm just a normal d00d who happens to be driving his brother's car.

urbandictionary.com Scene vs. Emo (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=scene+vs+emo)

The definition given as "Emo" at the begining of this thread actually describes the "Scene" crowd. Telling the difference between the two comes down to a matter of hearing them talk. If they talk at all.

Trust me...I was emo during my early high school years and later grew out of that phase and into what is now called scene. Emo kids are the kids you typically classify as the a "Loner" or mistakenly as a "Goth." They tend to write highly emotional driven poetry that typically has no poetic structure. They are usually moopey. Some wear "White face" make up and dress more on the gothic side. Do not let that confuse you concerning what is actually "Goth." I won't get into great detail but the Goth crowd have a facination with death but the beauty of death. Goths try to emulate that beauty with the outfits they wear.

The Emo crowd have a facination with death but the morbidity of death. A given Emo will try to emulate that morbidity as well.

Backroadtouge: The person in that animation you posted is a woman. The facial structure and the shape of the eyes give it away. On top of that she is more than likely phasing into the punk crowd. The facial expressions and the jovial attitude give that away.

What I find ironic about the whole thing is the fact that some of the scene crowd consider themselves to be emo. Interestingly enough they do so rightly. Most hardcore or "Core" music is emotionally driven however it is not to the extreme of being overly emotional much less morbid.

Unfortunately that fact has confused a great deal of people and the stereotype is based on the wrong information.

On top of that she is more than likely phasing into the punk crowd. The thick heavy black eyeliner and relatively wild hair plus the facial expressions and the jovial attitude give it away.

^thats stupid.

alright, im going to EXPLAIN EVERYTHING TO EVERYONE, bc im tired of all this misconfusion.

first and foremost, we must first understand that music is the root of all this.

Alot of ppl think emo music is whiny and sappy like something corporate or dashboard (fugazi too). This is wrong, the examples I listed are POP PUNK/alternative.

emo means emotional. Last time I checked all music has emotion in it.
Country
Metal
Hip-Hop
Old school Rock
etc.
Ive also heard lots of these genres sing about broken hearts, breakups, and sappy relationship b/s. Every genre does this, not just 'emo', thats why when ppl classify things as 'emo' they dont know what theyre talking about. O NOOESSSS ELVIS, JAY Z, and Spinal tap are emo!!! ahhhhhhhhhh

this brings me to my next point, Ppl who misunderstand and the groups involved. There are 3 groups within this sphere:

group 1: Dyed hair, tight jeans sometimes, plays an instrument, skates, listens to hardcore, goes to underground shows and supports their local music scene, some are straightedge, they all get into hardcore pits and fuck kids up, ur new age hardcore punk, and they fuck show bitches (these girls love guys who play music and theyre the reason why the guys dress the way they do).

group 2: this group looks identical to group 1 but theyre different. they dont go to shows, they love to dress hardcore and indie, they shop at the thrift store bc they think its ciche, gets their music from myspace and mtv, and has no concept of the scene that perpetuates their style.

group 3: this group cant tell the difference between 1 and 2, doesnt know local music exists, listens to the radio, mtv, vh1. watches football, generally ur average run of the mill guy, likes abercrombie and the mall, has no idea that theyre plugged into babylon.

group 2 sucks hard but group 3 is the problem. Bc they dont understand what they dont know they stereotype and misconstrue words. They create new trends of stupidity bc they dont know the background of what theyre dissing (calling something emo). It catches on like wildfire bc group 3 is massive, and misinformation prevails.

so remember most of you, next time your sitting at wendys and you see a straightedge assassin walk in and you call him emo and make your boys laugh; you make think your cool but really youre just an asshat, who doesnt even get it!
