I have a base model s14 zenki, and I want to get coilovers. I'm wondering about what other suspension parts are required for a lower suspension geometry. It seems like most people get tie rods, control arms, and camber plates. My budget is around $1600, but I'd like to get some new wheels because one of my steelies is bent. I'm mostly decided on stance coilovers although I'm not sure on basic vs gr vs gr pro (feel free to interject about my coilover choice). That'll probably depend on how much I need to spend on other parts.

Just to reiterate, what other suspension parts do I need to get with coilovers to drive safely.

The basic stuff you'll want when lowering your car are Rear Upper control arms, and rear toe arms w/ the coilovers. Most coilovers come with camber plates for the front, and with the above arms you can get your rear aligned to stock. I currently run the Stance GR+, and have no complaints so far... Ive had them for about 6 monthes. To compair I've ridden/Driven cars with D2's, Megan, KTS, Ksport, and Tein HE. I prefer my stance over any of the above, but if I didnt have those as a choice the KTS, and Tein feel pretty good.

RUCAs are good, but not entirely necessary in my eyes (rear toe is already adjustable). the rear camber you get from lowering your car is beneficial, especially if you dial in the front camber to similar amounts. it obviously depends on your tires, driving style, and goals. all i'm saying is that they're not required. which leads into...

the most important thing you should consider is the condition of your bushings. on a car of that age, some of the bushings are probably shot. particularly the tension rod bushings. i suggest a full bushing set from energy suspension before anything else. some subframe spacers or new bushings might be a good idea too.

you could blow the rest of the money on braces. fender braces are something easily missed that help a lot.

actually, just call www.SPLparts.com and say, "i've got $1600, make my car handle."
