So I'm in need of a hood and there are tons of options for CF or just get OEM. As far as OEM...its damn hard to find a used hood, so my next option would be new.
Now I did some searching and came across this site that sells fiberglass Kouki S14 hood: http://www.deftracing.com/fiber_glass_hoods/fiber_glass_hood_97_98_nissan_240sx.htm
Has anyone bought from them? If so...how is the fitment quality?
Do anyone know of any other sources for a fiberglass hood? (refuse to look on eBay)

^^ That is handsdown the largest grouping of knockoff items I have ever seen. Does any of it fit?

The site is down for some reason....I'd like to know how the fitment is with this particular make.
You can keep me posted here or I will eventually PM you.

I bought mine on Ebay VIS style carbon fiber, it was under 300 and ii contacted the company they let m4e pick it up, most of the companies are local that deal those parts for 240's

he said no CF, fiberglass, and probably not from a company that does business primarily on ebay

Well to deft racing, I have heard they are horrible. They have bad fitment, and bad customer service. I would say go with someone else.

I might have to step in on that offer about the VIS CF hood ^^^ if no one takes it.
Anyway, I guess here are a few options.

Yeah you can always get BN Sports
That hood for 180sx or Koguchi Power hood is my two dream pieces
I always bug my boy Kognition Designs in San Diego though to make hoods for pop up headlight S13 (180sx)
His quality is STUPID AWESOME and he uses all the highest grade stuff
I think you guys would be down right? LIKE DOWN, not this window shopping yeah I promise but later when comes payment I flake kinda stuff?
I'd pay upwards of $600 for a GOOD FRP hood, no question
The issue is that most guys (in US) dont want FRP
They want the carbon cause carbon's become an acceptable FINISH of some sort, and people don't really want an "unfinished" piece

yea for my 350z i paid over $700 for my authentic c-west hood in frp that had a crack in it. deffinately worth the money though, i think painting the "unfinshed" hood rather than cf looks way better :D

I plan on painting the hood...so the unfinished look doesn't bother me. I don't want to do eBay because I don't want to get something that the fitment is iffy on and most of those shops appear to be in Cali...so pickup is near impossible for me.
A Spec - What is Kognition Designs? A custom fab shop? BN Sports makes an OEM style hood?

kognition is a custom fab shop that makes true c/f stuff, race quality

It would be great if we actually got fiberglass hoods here, the idea of paying extra for the fucking carbon fiber layer just to paint over it annoys me.

so true not many companys make good frp hoods in the states if any, i dont know of any do you?? bn sports is cool but where do you get that. i know you can but im sure its kinda hard. and all the c/f hype is just gay its a fiberglass hood with a c/f sheet on the top, and im sorry c/f was cool in 99 maby.

I got a ChargeSpeed FRP hood for my S13. It's vented, not OEM style, but the quality and fit are awesome.
I picked it up from www.intensepower.com
Here's their S14 Kouki version.

After going through this thread, I was influenced to look more into the prices. Has anyone heard of the company Karmotion? Their homepage redirects you to an eBay store :ugh: but I think this hood (http://www.raceonusa.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=6178) looks pretty BA and...should...help with the cooling. I mean...it can't hurt. I'm running around 195F after continuous expressway driving and I always pop my hood when I get home to let out all the heat from the turbo mani. Plus the obvious weight savings with it being CF.
If people are going to bitch about thread jacking, just PM me an answer.

I actually WENT TO Chaser aero (aerokits.net), and tried on several of their FRP hoods for the Kouki S14. I changed my mind five times or more, and they let me sit each of the hoods onto and off of my car till I found the one I deffinately wanted. All of them seemed to fit pretty good. The "size" and fitment were pretty much great. The latch needed adjusting because the depth of the catch was alil different on the one I finally chose, but a couple of adjustments and I was on my way home with the hood on my car. (I drove up from towson hoodless in expectation of purchasing).
Point is, they are pretty much OK guys and the stuff they sell is as good as non "brand-name" stuff gets!

i got a hood from ChaserAero and it fit like ass without modding. I ended up using a carbit bit and elongating the hole on the hinges to the hood would sit far enough forward to latch.. plus on of the vents was directly above my CAS and TPS so i glassed it shut to elimate the change of water screwing my stuff up... im using the hood for the mean time then this next summer im getting a chargespeed hood
