I use the 3.99 a qt Quaker State crap. I forget the viscosity but it kicks ass. I think it's an 80 weight.

Redline MT90 or regular Redline 75w90 works perfectly fine.
Amsoil is also great, along with Torco and Motul.
STAY AWAY FROM REDLINE SHOCKPROOF. First of all, it's GL5, which our trannys HATE. Secondly, it's pretty shitty.
I ran that for a couple months, what a waste of money. It's this gross red jam looking oil that feels like diluted glue. Once it's in your transmission it'll never let you forget it. I changed my transmission oil pretty often and everytime the oil would come out with a small hint of red. Fuck, that stuff was terrible.
You should be fine running any brand of gear oil as long as it's GL4, I'm just paranoid and like to run full syn.

i'm running shockproof redline, but only for one reason, it helped my 5th gear syncro crunch greatly!!
I'm not ready yet for a rebuild of a trans because of 5th gear, but once the twinplate comes along, tranny is coming out and getting rebuilt.. meanwhile redline shockproof made it work like new for me so i'm pretty happy.

im using 1qt redline heavy shockproof 1qt redline 75w90 and 1/2 qt of redline light shock proof, it makes shifting feel smoother, and dosent take as long to warm up as the heavy shock proof

Nope and most likely nope. I tried Autozone and NAPA a while back, they didn't carry Redline. I asked if they carried Royal Purple or Amsoil and of course I got the same answer. There's an Advanced Auto Parts coming into our city so hopefully they'll have everything I need.

ocska04, looks like you're in SoCal. If you are, just go to Super Autobacs (http://www.autobacsusa.com/) in Stanton. Not the best prices but they have all the Redline fluids there.

Or get on Redline's site and get a list of local distributors. How I found a shop a few blocks from my job that carries it. And, damn, use the frigging search function - this topic has been discussed since ealry 2000s.

I didn't care for the MT90 last time I had it in the car... it felt to lightweight for my tastes, and frinded 2nd/3rd more. I just put in Royal Purples gear oil, and it feels much better... all the grinds are gone, and the local pep boys stocks it. Its rated GL4, and GL5, but will not wear on our syncros.

i run the gm oil - synchromesh... my roommate has it in his talon and i used it years ago in my galant vr4 (i have it at work so its free)
it isnt a api oil which means it doesnt get a GL4/5 but its great stuff -
also good are bg synchroshift (tried that in the talon before - but its more expensive for same results), and the amsoil.
anyone else using the gm oil? btw if anyone cares its called acdelco synchromesh now (had to order a case for the jobby place this week and they changed part #s on me)
