Here is the thing about 4 months ago I got my engine completely reuilt and when I got it back there was this clicking noice coming from the valve cover and it sounded like there was a loose bolt in there so I took off the valve cover and I check them w my hand and nothing I drove the car right until I broken it in 2,000 miles and then I went to the track once and drifting about twice other than that I haven't relly driven the car it just sit at my shop I have put about 3,000 miles on it since I got it and today when ever I got it to move it black smoke came out of it and I don't know what to think it didn't smell like gas so I don't know what it could be..... HELP me out guys thanks.

I'll take some vid of the engine so you guys can here the noice see what it sound like......

Is this something I should be worried about or was it from sitting there but I turn it once almost every other day......

- sr or ka, sr=hydrolic ka=solid tappet
- did the noise go away
- what was done as far as rebuild

and on a final note with any rebuild compression check it and make sure everything is nice(basic and leak down)

Could the ticking be the timing chain? I didnt see what motor it was, but the chain could be flapping around. if the chain was real loose I imagine it could throw of the timing a bit, causing the black smoke

Sorry KA and I think it might be a rocker or something like that that's what the mechanic said today...... but it's weird cause sometimes it can have a really nice hard pull somedays and some other days an ok pull weird and HE ALSO SAID IT MIGHT BE A SENSOR THAT'S WHY IT'S CAUSING IT TO RUN RICH IM THINKING MAYBE THE MAP SENSOR...... and as far as the rebuilt it was everything new pistons redid the head w new valves and I don't know what other stuff but it was a complete rebuild I guess
