anyone know if i could get a 180sx chassis and for how much? doesnt need suspension, brakes,wheels, nor driveshaft or any engine related parts, needs wiring possibly

this may be a dumb question but since the 240 and 180 look basically the same to someone who doesnt know any better could i just swap my VIN from my current 240sx to the 180 chassis, including the plate on the firewall and get it registered like a regular car? i mean it should be possible, if they even ask about RHD ill say i did a conversion, my buddy has a RHD converted civic and had no problems with registration

the reason im posting this is because my current 240 got in a wreck and has frame damage, im thinking im going to pull all my goodies and needs from my current 240 and place them into another chassis, i figured why not try to find a real 180sx chassis and throw my sr in there

What you are asking, is an illegal process.

I highly recommend no one going along with this request.

RHD in a LHD country is just a silly fad. Just find another 240sx Chassis. You may not find one local, you may have to look a little further then your neighborhood, or even your state, but it's not as far as Japan.

Get a 180SX and convert it to LHD. You'll be unique.

hmmm. even if you did swap the vin plates (which is highly illegal), the sticker on the door cannot be transferred and (at least on my s13) the vin is imprinted/stamped on the metal of the firewall. i don't know how thorough the oh dmv is about checking these things, but i know every time i've registered a car in ca that is either from out of state of the registration has lapsed, they are VERY thorough in making sure the vin on the title matches the vins on both the dash, the door, and the firewall. also, imo, rhd is just a fad that got played out with civics and tegs. theres no benefit to it unless you wanna not be able to go through drive thrus.

Ya but switching vins is felony and I also believe a federal offense, seeing as the DOT is involved. See look at this way, you swap in a motor that may not be legal you get a ticked and asked to remove it. You switch a vin plate and get caught, you commit a series of felonies. Some of which are fraud and possible possesion of stolen property in the laws eyes, which you must prove otherwise. You will go to jail, your car will be taken away and impounded and possible destroyed.
Its not something you do period. Let alone talk about doing it in public or on a internet forum. lol.

yes it is, but i mean 85% of all the shit that we talk about here on zilvia is illegal in some sort of way, test pipes, exhausts, motor swaps, etc.. its the name of the game, if his idiot ass wants to swap vins let his idiot ass do so. fyi i would just get a chassis in here, if u live in a state other than cali act dumb and go to ur dmv and if uve done ur research ull be able to regester it w.o. all ur retarded vin swaping.

if you get pulled over in some states and they find your car is highly moded they could care less... but if your vin is fucked with they start to ride your ass like none other.
