alright i searched and searched on here and came up with nothing on my situation.. I got a 97 Kouki, with a sr red top in it. The car randomly overheats but when it overheats it doesnt show on the stock temp gauge at first but the car starts to idle at like 2,500rpms and stays there no matter what then slowly but surely even just idling the car starts to overheat fast. I am running a koyo radiator nismo thermostat, and stock electric fan. Its really starting to tick me off though cause when i bleed the system i even opened the damn screw on the water neck until it was just straight water flow coming out. I know not to trust my stock gauge but why would it mess with the idle of the car and send it up almost 1,300rpms more than my stock idle.. any help would be greatly appreciated! Also if anyone is gonna start attacking the fact that im using a stock gauge then whats the best aftermarket temp gauge that i dont have to tap into the top of the radiator..

s13 and s14 coolant temp. sensor's are different.

swap in a S14 coolant temp guage and it will be the same again.

- i recently changed mine too; same situation too.

i would like to clarify the temp gauge does work and will show it starts to overheat... but the car and engine dont show any type of overheating just the weird idle problem..

usually the dealership will have it..but prolly would need to special order it.

local auto parts store may have one on hand, but most likely would have to order it also.

another alternative would be http://www.courtesyparts.com/betasite/240sx-s14-1995-1998/genuine-nissan-parts/exhaust-cooling/210-water-pump-cooling-fan-thermostat/-c-3690_3691_3714_3716.html they have anything/everything USDM; the part number would be 22630.

so you also had the weird idle problem? and just getting that sensor fixed it all?

i don't know about the weird idle problem; that may be a different issue..i may be wrong.

but im positive that swaping the coolant temp. sensor will fix your mis-readings.

I picked up the s14 sensor but it looks completly different than the s13 one the s13 one only has a tab coming out for a black little neg looking plug but the one i picked up has a huge blue plug what the hell do i plug in there? and its the right part i just verified it with courtesy
