Insurance paying on my car repair?

I found this website today, and am looking for some advice/help? My car's engine froze up on me after I had some work done on it by a friend of a friend. I towed the car to a mechanic and he told me that my insurance should cover it. I called my insurance company, and they need documentation of the prior repair. Thing is, is the guy who fixed it kept the receipts and can't find them now. Do you think the insurance company will continue the repair if they can;t be found? If they're asking for documentation and you are not able to provide it, I suggest working some overtime, kicking someone's ass or selling a kidney on craigslist, because they aren't going to touch it.

ask the person to make a NEW receipt for you!!!!
i just recently had to show a receipt in court to receive payment. and i didnt have one, so went back to the mech and asked him to write me up a new one!
just remember the date so you can put it on there!

Thanks for the help so far! The only thing is, the friend who did it, bought the part for me, and can't find the receipt. Don't know where else to turn right now. Going crazy:)
