i did a search already, but i was thinking, y dont people swap in the SR20VET found in that Xtrail or watever in japan. i mean..i heard it has higher hp n stuff, so y not that engine? i think its relatively new so the price ishigh for one, i never seen somebody sell it.  plus i would think the varible valve timing would giveu more hp when it kicks in

I really know nothing about that engine, but if it's more expensive and new...  that might be prohibitive.  Also, the s14 and s15 sr20det engines have a variable valve timing.  Some say, with VVT, you can't build up the engine to peak potential.  Thats why s13 engines are choice for drag or high hp setups.

Because it's a transverse-mount engine.  The X-trail is a car-based mini-ute in the class of the CR-V and RAV4, it just happens to have this badass engine available (the standard X-trail engine is a 150hp QR20DE).  The engine might fit in a Sentra, G20, etc. but not a 240SX.

The SR20VET's NeoVVL system is a true variable timing and lift system similar to Honda's i-VTEC or Toyota's VVTLi.  The S14 and S15 SR20DETs just have a simple cam phasing system more like VVTi that just advances and retards the cam based on RPM.  This same system is used in the QR25DE.
