but what should i have done differently? i tried to keep an eerie feeling, as they're fucking headstones. but also keep them all the same. i hate when people do a shoot and their pictures are Pshopped all over the place. anyhow, thanks for looking.
I think..... someone died to make those pictures possible.

I think you have a really good camera. I don't know shit about photography, but your pictures came out really clear.

As a photographer, this is one of the most insulting things I have to hear on a constant basis. "Wow, you must have a nice camera." Uh no. It's called practice and skill.
And, nice photos lucky7. The only thing that bothers me about the last one is that it's close to being centered and the subject is so thin. I would have shot up from the base of the headstone.

thank you.
yes, i would agree. shooting from the ground, up would have looked much better. but i was shooting with my 50 prime. :p i agree with you. i always hear, 'what camera are you using?? man, i need a camera like that'. shit cracks me up. :bigok:
(for newbs reading this. 50 prime = 50mm. you CANT zoom in or out. you walk closer and farther away to zoom. haha)
but yeah, thanks. maybe i'll re-edit that last one and crop it differently.
EDIT!!
yeah, that picture was effed up to begin with. i was too close. not enough room to crop it the way i like. i tried again, but now i think the focal point is a bit mixed up. hmmm.

i see where you're coming from, but good equipment goes a long way. the detail and lighting is much better if you are working with a real lens. but the subject is all you.
that being said, there was a photographer that shot for the SI swimsuit issue that used disposables. he seriously had a pile of kodak point and shoot disposables, but that subject is easy to make look good.

im not exactly sure what you mean, in reguards to 'good equipment'. but i wanted to use the prime, because i thought the look would be perfect. i only have 3 lenses.
-50mm f/1.8
-18-55mm (kit lens). although i slapped a circular polarizer on that.
-75-300mm telephoto. i never use it, it sucks.
i would have used the kit today, but its just too soft for what i wanted.
i want to get a nice wide angle. but here is the problem. the camera is a 400D, and it belongs to my dad. haha. the prime lense is mine, along with some other accessories. i think i may pick up a 40D soon. anyhow, thats what ive got. its a great hobby. when i cant do the car thing here in the winter time, i can keep on taking photo's. new hobby for me. i dig.

You posted exactly what I was thinking. I want a headstone shaped EXACTLY like the Bird.

you have a camera that has separate lenses. in most people's eyes, that makes it good equipment. but it takes skill to use it right and take good pictures. nice work, i like the second one.

Great pics!
I think it would be cool to see the last pic shot freehand from the ground shooting up the tombstone with the engraved letting visible. All of your pics are badass!
