26 Sep 2007
- Global website goes live today -
Tokyo, Japan, (September 26, 2007) – Nissan today started the pre-launch activities in support of the all-new GT-R, the high performance sports car to be revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 24th. Central to the launch of GT-R, which will ultimately go on sale around the world, is a dedicated website that will provide all information on the car, including latest news, specifications and where to buy. The address for the website is www.gtrnissan.com and will be available in seven languages: Japanese, English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, and Dutch.
With sales due to start in Japan in December, Nissan is today also confirming the final name of the car. Previous generations of this car were known as the Skyline GT-R; the new name for this car is simply “Nissan GT-R” in all global markets. Supporting substantial early customer interest in the Nissan GT-R, the company is today making available for customers in Japan some initial details including basic specifications, colors and practical information on placing pre-orders. Prices in Japan for the Nissan GT-R will start from around 7.8 million yen.
In support of the sale of the Nissan GT-R, the company also announced today the establishment of 160 Nissan High Performance Centers in Japan. These centers have been established to provide specialist sales and servicing support for customers of the Nissan GT-R.

I can't believe I liked it from its inception, but looking at it now, the original concept looked very... clown-carish

Why cant we just get an r34. wtf. I dont really like the gtr. In all actuallity, sad as it may seem, If it had nothing to do with money, id keep my sr'd hatch over the gtr. If money was involved, Id take the gtr, sell it, and build nasty sr. The best thing about nissan is the inline turboed series motors. I love the 2jz, I love rb's. I love sr's. But what the hell is a V6 doing in this "gtr". This is japan saying, here america, suck my dick.
saved it from being a total repost.

funny thing about the internet, everyone has an opinion.
anyways, i absolutely love the gtr. in all actuallity, sad as it may seem, if it had nothing to do with money, id throw away my sr'd hatch and get a gtr. if money was involved, id take the sr'd hatch and sell it for $70k and buy this gorgeous gtr. the best thing from nissan lately has been there v6 VQ. i love v6s of all kinds! but what the hell are people thinking when they diss the VQ? This is Japan saying, here america, we can make an awesome V6 and turbo it too

ok, so we can agree to disagree. I guess now I should back up why i like I6 over V6 so i dont sound like a complete asshole. Inline motors are eisier to work on (im lazy). But aside from that, inline motors are much smoother and higher reving than v motors because , as far as inline six's are concerned, they are much better balanced. V motors just fit better. As far as turbos are concerned, Inlines can take alot more boost due to their superior balance.

Hmmm I've never heard of I6 being better balanced than a 60deg V6... I need proof of this please. I know for a fact that a 60deg banked V6 is better balanced than any I4 so I don't know how adding an extra 2 cylinders on the end of it makes it even more balanced.
EDIT: Read wikipedia entries, i think im all caught up. I still doubt that because an engine is more 'balanced' it can handle more boost.. that doesn't seem to make any sense

Says the guy who has absolutely no experience with the V6 engine the new GTR will have... :jerkit:
Ignoramus.
This car will be leaps and bounds ahead of the R34 in every aspect.
The 2JZ and RB are old inefficient designs compared to what is engine design today.
and, the Inline-6 vs. V-6 read this:
http://www.autozine.org/technical_school/engine/smooth3.htm
don't get me wrong, I love inline-6 engines, some of the best engines in the world have been I-6's
I just believe they have been surpassed by the V6 now, because of it's packaging advantage.

A v-6 engine is going to have less rotational weight. A v-6 crankshaft/camshafts are almost 1/2 the length of an inline engine. Just something to think about when you're saying which can rev faster/higher etc.

I-6 VS V-6?
Only reason why most the japanese companies are dropping the inline is because emissions is a bitch, but the germans are still trying hard to keep the motor alive... but yeah emissions

How does anything in that article disagree with the stuff that I have said?
And no, I have not messed with the new gtr's engine, and yes, It will be faster than the r34. And yes there are advantages of V's over inline, but thats due partially to the fact that due to lack of space, V engines have been more of the focus recently in technological advances than inlines. Look at the V6's when the inline sixes were in max production. Inlines kicked thier asses. Today's v6's are going to be supperior to yesterdays inline sixes. But i still favor the inline over the V. Thats my opinion. I'm sorry if you don't like it, but im not flaming you for liking the v6 over inline, thats your opinion. If you have such an issue with me not agreeing with you, shove it.

Everybody knows inline is better, that's why they used them in F1. Oh wait...
Engineering people... regardless of engine configuration, I can't wait to check out the new GTR.
