I was just wondering if anybody has seen those mod chips on ebay that cost like 3 bucks or something. I think it says that its a timing advance mod. Do you think this works?

There's a thread about this in Tech Talk.

It is NOT with even $3, don't give it a shot, don't send money to these bullshit purveyors.

if it did work, wouldn't it be bad on the engine at all?

The "chip" is simply a 3.3 KOhm (or there abouts) that gets plugged into your IAT sensor plug to fool the car into thinking it is getting cooler air then it really is. Cooler air = advanced timing. Go to Radio Shack and buy 5 resistors for $.99 and sell the other four to your friends =)

I'd highly doubt this would work. I mean, an actual CAE only gives 3-5 hp..assumed, as nobody has actually dynoed one. So I'm guessing at the most, this will give you a .5hp? LOL

along this topic.....I'm just about finished with my new product, keep an eye out for it at your local race-shop in the future.

My sales pitch:

Is your car feeling a little sluggish lately? Tire of being beaten on that onramp by those pesky civics? Or maybe you just want a quick, cheap, easy and reliable way to add 5-10* hp? Introducing the new and revolutionary dumstick. Our team of highly qualified engineers worked closely with NASA scientists to create a revolutionary stick, in which we found actually adds to the HP of your vehicle. How does it work you say? Well, we've created a secret, complex system of magnets that actually pulls your car towards the direction that you point the dumstick. It may be hard to notice at first, but once you give your car a quick mash of the gas pedal...you'll see that it does in fact work. So act now, and call our service agents at 1-800-dum-stik, for a one-time low low price of 14.95, down from the regular selling price of 29.95. Call now, before our special pricing period ends, to add new life to your engine, for a more peppy, spirited ride!

disclaimer: actual results may vary depending on model/make and condition on vehicle. We are not responsible for any damage done to your car during the installation and/or usage of the dumstick.

*HP results vary from 5-10hp, depending on make/model, and condition of engine.
