I recently replaced my worn out OEM tension rods with the SPL units. I realize that they are spherical rod ends, and that they will probably make some noise, but should they make a popping noise when making tight radius turns? Or at all?

highly doubt it...

Be sure to contact SPL tomorrow. Are you 100% sure its the tension rods?

popping noise could be bolts stripping out... I can't really think of anything else. The only way they're noisier is bumps/rattles while driving over bumps and trying to turn, not like "bangs" or "popping". Something's definitely wrong.

are your tie rods in good condition? since you did mention that you replaced your worn out tension rods, usually popping when turning is tie rods as well, so i'd check those, it could just be since you got those back up to par, now your noticing other worn out bushings

Very good point...especially when going from rubber to spherical tension rods...now the tie rods are possibly showing signs of their age...

Nope. They're Tein inners and outers, installed about 5 months ago.

And besides, the steering feels nice and tight, no slop in the steering wheel. I dont get it, I look at my ball joints, they look fine, no grease coming out.. all the bolts on the front carriage are on tight. Im at a loss.

I've got the SPL TC rods on mine and there's no noise, so you might want to go back and check like they said.

Could be the strut mounts seizing. If the bearings are toast in those it can pop when you turn.

check the nuts on the control arm i had the same problem sometimes if your driving on a bad road the vibration can cause the nuts to come loose or they were just not tight enough. if the poping noise happens when you brake it that.
