so i was driving one day and my ka'e decides to start ticking really loud.
so i go home and check my oil (thinking it was valve tick because lack of oil) i didnt have any on there.. so i add a few quarts and notice there is saturation coming from the valve cover before i add .... i start it and the noise still continues... but after a few hours of rain slipslidin it stops.. so the next day i go to autozone and get castrol gtx non syn and a quart of lucus engine treatment and a new valve cover gasket. i change the oil, put in a new oil filter and lucus treatment... but before i start it I take off my valve cover and remove the gasket.. the old one thats on there is in perfect condition.. so i put the old one back on then start the car.. the ticking comes back even louder and my oil pressure light comes on.. so i take it to my work and ask someone about it.. they said that maybe the lucus treatment was too thick for it but i was like whatever and drain the oil and just add penzoil convental but the oil light is still on, the ticking is really loud and my car sounds like wrx (cool sounding but not good)
So does anyone no whats wrong? oh and thanks for reading this..:D

Sounds like it may be the oil pump. What series ka do you have? DE or E? If it's an E, the pump is on the outside which makes it easy to replace. If it's a DE, then you're going to have a fun time replacing it, since it is INSIDE the front cover of the engine. It took me and a buddy of mine about five hours to replace my oil pump on my DE. Good luck!

check your injectors for any leaks. the o-rings might be worn.

Is the ticking more like a rattling cuz that would probably be the timing chain. If it is a soild, consistent, and loud knock then you have a rodknock and must rebuild your engine. If it is one or more ticks that are consistent you may have lost lube to your lifters and worn them down. Were there any signs of metal shavings in your head when you took the valvecover off? The rodknock or the worn lifters could have been caused by your extremely low oil level, the kade only holds like 3.5 quarts of oil so if you had to add 3 I would say you might have toasted your motor.

Not to throw a wrench in your day but, does the "ticking" sound like it's coming in at certain RPMs, does it go away at higher RPM? Maybe your main/rod bearings figured they'll take a trip down south soon....

Thanks for all the help you guys are trying to provide, but...

This thread is almost a year old. If he hasn't fixed it by now, he probably sold it.
