Free 240sx!!!!

One of my friends mom's boyfriend has an '89 240sx with like 180,000 mls, an automatic trans but the rings are blown and its on its last leg. The guy saw me driving my '91 and asked if I'd take the '89 off his hands, he even offered to drive it to my house while its still insured. Now what the hell would you do with a free 240. I just put $800 into my '91 and would like to keep that for reliable transportation to school and work so the '89 would be my fun race car.
Heres my ideas:

1) Rebuild the SOHC and put in a 5-speed. (I've got a garage and would be taking my time like a year)
2) Rip out the SOHC and the auto and get a SR.
3) Beat the crap out of it till it dies and sell it for the body.(any $$$ is profit)

What would you guys do?

imo i would get a sr and completly uprage it and use it ofr the weekends and such.

You should do something wild and crazy. If you have a good place to fix up the car, I would suggest getting a manual tranny, and get either a DOHC and build the turbo yourself, make it a long project. Or get like a CA or RB, or VG, do something different. And build it up yourself, although that would eat up lots of money

i tried to search but couldn't find anything, how hard is the sohc to dohc swap. i have access to a DOHC and 5-speed trans its not just interchangable is it?

man, if i had a SPARE 240... i'd make hella room in my garage, get a lift or something to get it up to a working level, buy an engine hoist, and work on it all winter... and then in spring, roll it out, manual/SR20DET installed, all sorts of go-fast goodies surrounding the SR, upgraded suspension, s15 front end, immaculate interior, nice stereo. then i'd sell my '92 and drive the other 240 until it died.
oh yeah, that'd be sweet.

I say go SR or get another KA.. DOHC though. uhhh go domestic. build a 302 and drop that thing in. Even if you won't make it, you won't loose anythin cuz u got it for free.

I paid 325 for my 89 &nbsp;which is almost free &nbsp;and I went the sr route and it should be road ready in about a month or two &nbsp;hella fun project i might add

Dude, if you live any where near Nor Cal, I would take the 89 off of your hands for cheap!!!! Maybe 300 or 500........if you want to keep it, I would swap the SR in, and just mod the hell out of it.....
