Guys, I am looking for a fabricator to make me a custom exhaust manifold for a top mount T28r set up. I would also like to keep the turbo interally wastegated for the time being so no flange needed.
Who should I have do this? What do you think it will cost?
Thanks
James

why do you want a topmount for that? the only reason i went top mount was because my turbo was too big to go down low...
i think thats the general consensus - bottom mount is better unless you go too big for it.
700$ min for the fabbing im sure.... but still.. why?

The SR is going into a E30 M3 BMW and the turbo is hititng the steering rack.
Pretty much the reason and I dont really want to make over 300rwhp at any time so I dont want to go T3 (plus it will cost alot more $$$)

basically, obviously I dont want the runners TOO small but I would also like to be boosting some time before 4000 rpm
Just basically whatever they do for a bottom mount, just equal length top mount :wiggle:

I'm not sure if phase2 has it any more but they have a titanium manifold to your exact specs, top mount, t25 flange, for internal wastegate. I don't see it on the website but they just might have it still since it's such a specialty item. You should definitely give them a call. If they don't have it, you might be able to call up full race and them make you a custom manifold.

No need for all that Ti jazz, just go log-style (search for log style do it yourself kits for SR20 and T2 flange) and you get a kit with (1) head flange, (2) 2 90* bends, (3) 2 't' type pieces, and (4) a t2 flange w/radial piece. Have the fabricator weld it up, and get some SS lines, you're set.
Shouldn't cost more than $200 for parts, and another $200 or so in labor (not including the SS lines). Then get a T25/T28 5 bolt exhaust flange and have him fab a downpipe (another few hundred $$$).
Nice swap - cheap motor, expensive exhaust side lol.

u could always change the flange off a ebay one... cheap but it will probably break

How is a log style compared to a tubular? Is is more restrictive?

yeah, I dont want to go down that road.

You could get a JGS stage 1 or 2 setup and weld a T2 flange on it.

Or you could by one of those cheap SSAC top mount mani and drill it for a t2, since they only come for t3. and weld the wastedate inlet closed too.

Thank you, I have a VERY competent welder at my disposal sooo..... I will probably end up going down this road after I call them and have a little chit chat with them.

log-style is generally preferred on mildly modified cars that want to run a big turbo, because it keeps the spool quick. Theoretically you lose some on the top end, but it doesn't seem like you're really in it for power (right now at least) because you insist on sticking with a t25. Just sayin, the DIY log-style kit will be the cheapest by far.
I don't see why you guys think the ebay manifold/redrilled to T2/wastegate flange welded is such a horrible idea. That'd be cheap also, for almost the same finished product. Sure it's not baller like a Ti top mount from phase2, but we did say T25 here, didnt we :keke:
EDIT: Just checked out the JGS kits - that's exactly what I was talking about in my first post lol.
