ok so iver never had to worry about anything happening to my car until now, i'm at college, where my car has to sit in a parking lot all the time (until i bring it home for the winter) well today the unthinkable happened, my car was broken into, they pulled apart my interior, but only stole my head unit, and all my disc golf discs. my doors werent locked (i know it was stupid) but my key is really really shitty, and barely starts my car, it doesnt work to open the doors, so i cant lock them. i just usually keep my steering wheel with me, which probably saved my ass from having a stolen car. but anyways, ive decided to get an alarm, but i dont know ANYTHING about electronics, can you guys help me pick an alarm. only real requirements are that it also has keyless entry (do they all?) so that i can lock and unlock my doors without my key. and also it cant be TOO expensive, but i want quality, so please help me!

ok, somehow my title didnt work, it was supposed to say "Help me find an alarm please!" if a mod could change that, i'd appreciate it!

I saw the title and was like what. Dam sorry to hear that man. I dont know too much about alarms, but im sure the next person will ask what exaclty you are looking for as well as, what is not expensive, what is your budget.

i'm looking for a quality alarm, that has keyless entry also, unless they all do. i dont really want to set a budget right now because i dont know what a quality unit will cost, so i dont want to set my budget too low. i'd just like to hear some opinions, ive been searching and i hear things like "2-way" and "pager" etc, i dont know what any of that means...

directed electronics (dei) is the way to go. they make viper, clifford, python, automate and a couple of other names. all the internals are the same just different names. i wont use/install any other brand. i still have yet to see one fail. the 2 way pager has a screen on the remote that tells you if the car is being broken into if your within range. top of the line w 2 way responder (pager) is around $500 installed at most of the big chain stores. you can prob get just an alarm/keyless for $200-$300. sorry to here about the break-in. good luck finding an alarm

I have the viper 5900 with an extra piezo siren on the inside, extra battery siren, hood pin, and a extra tilt sensor. I also have the brain hidden in a different location then the normal area under the steering column. Getting a good alarm does no good if you don't get a good installer.
Also, bring your key to a lock smith and he can make you a new key.

I have the Clifford Matrix with the extra Piezo siren on the inside too, plus a battery back up on the main siren and hood pin. I know nothing is fool proof but I definitely feel better when I park my car overnight or at a friends house. It was like $350 installed, and I have no complaints.
