Today I encountered probs w/ my redtop and i know it's my fault. I have an SAFC2 and I wanted to raise the idle just a tad so I started messing w/ it a bit. I have limited exprience w/ this controller so I'm pretty sure I changed something by accident and now my car has problems. i filled out the qustionaire below to help you understand whats happening.
1. What setup are you running?
S13 redtop SR20DET engine
Ecu Rom tune by Enthalpy
T25 Turbo @14 PSI
Apexi Super AFC II Limited Edition
KAAZ 2-Way Limited Slip Differential
Greddy VSPL Front Mount Intercooler
Greddy Type S Blow off Valve
B&M Short Shifter
New Nissan slave cylinder
New Nissan master clutch cylinder
New Spec Stage 2 clutch kit
New Toda Billet Steel flywheel
Steel braided clutch lines
Tein spring w/ AGX's
Greddy Type S Blow off Valve
Apexi N1 muffler with 3" custom piping
Greddy 3" Downpipe
Greddy VSPL Front Mount Intercooler
Z32 Mass Air Flow Sensor
Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
Denso Platinum Spark Plugs
Flexalite Dual Fans
Koyo Rad
4. Does the car start up and idle without any problems?
no problems at all, only when i hit the gas it sputters
5. With out driving the car how high can you bring the rpms up to?
2500-3000 rpms
6. Can you hold the rpms at constant value?
yes
7. Is the car building boost when revving?
yes
8. Does the problem occur on a cold, warm or hot engineā¦.all the above?
haven't tried the cold yet
9. Once it stalls does it starts right back up
it doesn't stall but if i shut off the car it starts right back up
10. Can you hear the fuel pump running when the car stalls?
i have to check

inspect all your silicone couplers from your turbo all the way to the throttle body. a clamp may have come loose or you popped one. try that out.. did you change the MAF setting on the safc2?

Yeah AFM Settings.
If you are super unsure, yet want to make the car driveable until you get it to a tuner.
Setup TPS according to the Apexi manual.
Set AFM to hotwire, 2 in 6 out.
Lower boost to stock (7 psi)
0 out the whole map. (maybe write down the values before you do it) Should be under Air Map Graph.

not sure if i changed the MAF settings, im still learning the safc atm. maybe you can walk me through how to find the settings. Im going to check in the morning for any couplers being loose as well. I have been reading the safc manual for the past 15 mins but im still having issues.
*EDIT* I just checked my AFM and it was 3 in 6 out....so i changed it to 2 in and 6 out. could that alone possibly be my issue? I can't start the car atm because my neighbors have a newborn and i don't want to rev my car at 12:20am.

sorry to correct you John, but if im not mistaken if the ECU is tuned for the Z32 MAF u should be running 2in 2 out. if the ecu is tuned for stock maf then its 2 in 6 out.

yea when i had my in and out maf settings wrong, it was similar to your car. it would sputter, hardly idle if not die, and it would rev above a pretty low rpm. just change your in out setting and i bet youll be fine!

good looking out fellas, that was the prob. i set it to 2 in and 6 out and it seems to be ok. i will try the equal #'s in a bit to see if it improves the cars performance. Anyways, now im back to my old prob w/ the tach reaching zero when i come to a stop and it stalls. i tried adjusting the sfac but it only seems to let me adjust the idle just a bit. any suggs?
*edit* Im going to adjust the decel air settings that an IFX member suggested, hopefully this will straighten my issues all out.
Thanks for your replies.

ok, that doesn't work, it sucks cuz when I step on the clutch and lets say the rpms are at like 6000k, when the needle drops it goes all the down and stalls the car. i have to be careful when i drive because if hold down the clutch too long the car stalls and i have to start the car all over again....very annoying

You should try to cap off the bov until you can get a retune. That should help the stalling issue. I'm sure someone on here has a safc with the dec air setting that's close to yours. Just ask around. Unless you have cams, bigger injectors, or some crazy shit like that, you shouldn't have to do too much tuning on it.

someone has suggested:
Dec. Air
Throttle 1%
NE1 4
NE2 5
I tried those settings and played a bit but it doesn't seem to do anything. i will bring it to a tuner soon but i would love to fix this myself

Thanks for the correction juan, I need them, I stare at the screen TOO long sometimes.
WHAT IS THE ECU TUNED FOR.
Decel, should be almost NONE, if any like ne1 .7 @ 700rpm and ne2 1.4 @ 1250rpm.

What do you mean by "what is the ecu tuned for" exactly? it's a street car if thats what your asking

It should be the lowest settings without stalling the car on a COLD startup, that's the most important part.
